Nice series of photos! The 50 Summilux, 50 Summicron APO AA, and the 35mm Summilux FLE are my three favourite lenses on the M246. I also like the orange filter the best, use it quite often.

I don't think it would be nearly as noticeable shooting film, it seems to be more profound on digital. My 50 ZM Sonnar was fine on my analog M's, but shift was certainly noticeable on my M240/246. I had to either adjust the focus slightly, or lean in about an inch, which I found easier.

A rangefinder has no idea at what aperture you've focused at, so stopping the lens down makes no difference to the eye, unlike live view. It all depends on what aperture the lens was calibrated at for precise focus. Usually wide open, to f2.8, so shift would occur between f4/5.6.

Sony has actually patented a curved sensor to try and resolve that exact issue, when, or if ever it will be commercially produced, is the big question... cheers/ken.

Hi Brian, The only experience I had was with the 50 ZM C Sonnar on my A7r, strong vignette up to f4, and anywhere off centre was soft. Any of my Leica lenses below 50mm on that body were marginal at best. cheers/ken.

Agreed. In the M240's defence, the first one was very quick, my camera was on the counter and I had to turn it on and guess the distance to catch it! I'm surprised it turned out as well as it did. Though, the M246 is nothing short of spectacular! Thanks Brian/k.

Hi Brian, Ya, I'm ok without the click stops. I do agree the lens would be a larger diameter for sure, I love the size now so wouldn't want to change that. They certainly did a brilliant job! I think I'll probably end up changing the numbering to "ruski red!" lol Just the aperture scale though.

I finally received my J3+ last night via UPS. The construction of the lens is a definite upgrade from the ZM Sonnar. I've only had a chance to play around with it in a house for a bit, must say I'm very impressed, very sharp and lovely tonal qualities in B&W. I've only tried it on my M246 so...
