Quick question - does anyone know what the (eventual) `body only' price of the x-a1 is expected to be? I'm still looking for a compact-single focal length-carry-everywhere camera, but I would really like that focal length to be in the 40-50mm equiv. E.g., x-a1 + 27mm... Thanks!

Theoretically, these new hybrid, PDAF/CDAF, systems might be faster (and more precise) - they use the PD information to narrow the range to which the CDAF is applied. But, as Tim pointed out, the actual AF speed and accuracy depends on how everything is implemented in software and (lens)...

`Wishing'...? I'm wishing for an X200s with a fixed 85mm equiv (or so), (f1.8 or lower) lens, with all the other specs the same as X100s, and... ... enough money to buy both 100s and 200s! :)

Your work shows that the versatility of the x100s with its fixed focal length is only limited by the photographer... in your case, there appear to be no limits! Thank you for sharing your work and impressions... (in spite of the marital tension to which I fear they may eventually contribute...

I agree, having had the same experience myself! This is why I'm torn on this. What I imagine is that when I'm out with the intent to shoot I would have my K5 with one or two primes (e.g., 65mm equiv and 115mm equiv), and (in my fantasy) something like the x100(s) for the 35mm equiv view...

No - not just you :). The zoom on the X10/20 (flexible though it may be) is one of the things I'm not sure about.

That is one of the things that appeals to me about the X100 (in theory) - the slower, more deliberative process. Having said that, I'm curious if the X100 does `face-detect' autofocus? And while we're at it, does the X10 (X20)?

When :) I win the X20 the first pictures will probably be of my kids (or one of them). But if I'm really lucky, I'll grab a shot of my wife looking irritated that I am pointing a camera at her again!

The X20 is also piquing my interest... The zoom is more flexible, it has (apparently) superior autofocus and the x-trans sensor, and the price is rightish. My main hesitation is that I really like the simplicity (purity?) of a prime. (Perhaps I'll win an X20 :D, and then I can buy the X100...
