    Fuji X100s on black leather

So I just got this X100s to compliment my XT1. I was taking photos at a conference that my wife organized, and in a moment of downtime, snapped this with my iPhone. I'm not entirely sure I'll keep it yet. I am unimpressed with its close focus ability (kind of soft). I would tend to use that a...

    Fuji My new Strobist kit

So now that I am finally free of my boat anchor DSLR kit, I was left without any flashes to pursue off camera flash techniques. I had been using 4 Nikon flashes, but typically no more than two at a time. Anyway, I purchased two Yongnuo 560III's and a 602 transmitter. What I like about this...

I've completed my lens lineup. Today I brought home the Fuji 55-200 to add to my 18-55, 35, 60 and 14mm lenses. I can cover most of my photographic needs now. I love the new lens so far. I will probably use it to shoot the rest of the Nikon gear that is going up for sale. :)

    X-E1 Wedding

I used my X-E1 to back up my D700 for a wedding this weekend. I kept the 35mm 1.4 on it, and I was not disappointed in the least. The newest firmware gave me great confidence and I only was plagued with a red AF box one or two times. I used this setup for detail shots mostly. I did sneak it...

    Cake...Everbody Like Cake!

My wife decorates cakes as a hobby and I get to take pictures of her efforts. I used a manual focus 55mm 3.5 Nikkor macro, but in retrospect, should have just used the kit lens on my X-E1. Magnified focus is tough indoors without good light. I was using speedlights to light the scene, so no...

    Fuji Tell me about Zeiss

So, I've never owned one, or shot with a Zeiss lens. When I had Sony cameras, everyone raved about the Zeiss A mount optics. I never bothered to pick one up for my Nikon system, because of price and lack of AF. With the Fuji I might be interested in learning more about them, so I have a few...

    Scenes from the Junk Yard

This is one of my favorite places in NC. It's not too far from my house, and I love getting lost in all of the great things to shoot. Tonight, I led a photo club outing here and used my X-E1 18-55mm, 35mm 1.4 and an old Nikkor Macro. Comments welcome.

    Family Snaps

My Mom's brother was in town overnight, so I got a pic of them together in the backyard during a cookout we had. I am really impressed with the 35mm 1.4 on the X-E1. Nothing special here, as far as lighting, but I just wanted to share these.
