I went a ways out of town in the middle of the night last night to try and get some cool shots of this 'big meteor shower'. I woke up at 1:30AM and drove an hour outside the city to get away from the light pollution. Unfortunately, there were hardly any meteors (you can see one in the star...
Here are two from this afternoon. Fun with ND filters. This is with two stacked NDs, a 10 stop and 3 stop, for 13 total stops reduction, allowing for multi-minute exposures in bright afternoon sunlight. Both with the 14mm f/2.8
3 minutes, 30 seconds @ f/22
2 minutes, 5 seconds @ f/16
Got a chance to actually go out and shoot this morning. Got up early and went to some spots I hadn't been before. I got to Conkle's Hollow just after sunrise, though by the time I got to Rock Bridge, the sun was high and the light somewhat harsh. I planned on HDR for all the Rock Bridge...
Picture barrage: My daughter's birthday party. With the blah light and the way things were laid out, I liked a B&W documentary style for this one (though a few I may reprocess in color to stand on their own). All with the 23/1.4 and 56/1.2:
My full review of the excellent 56mm f/1.2 is now up: http://admiringlight.com/blog/review-fujifilm-fujinon-xf-56mm-f1-2-r/
When I received it, it was the finest f/1.2 lens I'd ever used. However, I'm reviewing another right now that my take the title, though not for Fuji cameras. Overall...
My full review of the X-T1 is up on Admiring Light
Spent a week with it....and was very pleased with the camera: http://admiringlight.com/blog/review-fujifilm-x-t1/
Conditions weren't exactly conducive to photography today. I know many further west and north had it far worse than this, but -27F wind chill is still flippin' freezing.
Still, I saw the frozen mist rising off the river by the city and had to stop to take a quick shot. I sprinted from my...
A bunch from walking around town tonight with the X-E2 and the Canon FL 55/1.2 and Speed Booster. All are at 39mm, f/0.85. The better EVF refresh and better peaking were most helpful, and for the bike shots, the digital split image worked great when peaking was a little harder to line up perfectly.
Completed my review of the 23/1.4 last night. I have to return my review sample today, unfortunately. Absolutely stellar lens.

So I got the new Canon FD mount speed booster last week. My review went up yesterday: http://admiringlight.com/blog/review-metabones-speed-booster-canon-fd-to-fuji-x/
Basically, I'm very pleasantly surprised by the Speed Booster. I have a Minolta MD mount Lens Turbo, but with my 50/1.4, it...
Did some shooting in Hocking Hills (Ohio) over the weekend. All of these are with the X-E1:
Fuji 14/2.8:
Fuji 14/2.8:
Fuji 55-200 (I think this is my favorite of the day):
Fuji 35/1.4:
Fuji 35/1.4:
Fuji 14/2.8:
Fuji 14/2.8:
Fuji 35/1.4:

All three shots here are off the side of I-71 in southern Ohio. all with the Fuji X-E1. Three very different styles for these images, but I think they fit each subject. First and last with Fuji 35/1.4, middle with Rokinon 8mm fisheye, defished.
'Murica!
Went to a friend's daughter's birthday party last night. Just after blowing out the candles, she turned for a quick portrait. Fuji X-M1 with FD 85mm f/1.8.
I have the 27/2.8 in for review this week and was out for a bit with it. I then Went out to scout a new skyline location and found this man just sitting on the bank. Asked if I could take his picture and he happily obliged. X-M1 with 27/2.8 at 2.8.
Well, I guess I get to be the first to christen the 16-50 sample archive. Got the X-M1 with 16-50 yesterday. After shooting a bit with it, the 16-50 is pretty decent. It's not exceptional, but it's not bad at all. At the wide end, f/8 is where the best across the frame performance...
I got the X-M1 today...mainly for the 16-50 (which, despite being slower, will fit my usage for a standard zoom better than the 18-55...mainly due to the extra wide end and the cost savings). Current plan is to keep the body long enough to do a review of it, then sell the body and keep the...
I know many of you have seen these around. I too had looked at them off and on over the years, and finally decided to get one for my X-E1. It's made very well, the leather is supple and, after getting used to the thicker strap through my index and middle fingers, I really like the way it feels...
X-E1 with Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 Distagon. I've got it for the next week for review. Good lens, though at first blush not quite as good as the Fuji 14mm.:
On my way to work this morning, I found this armchair just sitting right in the middle of an abandoned parking lot. I use this lot to sometimes cut around traffic to get to a side road, and it's never been there before...but today, there it is, just sitting right in the middle of the lot. X-E1...
I have completed my in-depth review of the Fuji 14mm f/2.8:
Review: Fujifilm Fujinon XF 14mm f/2.8 R @ Admiring Light
Long story short...it's awesome (as most of you well know)...
Fuji X-E1 with 60mm f/2.4:
(to be honest, though, she was just posing for me. The shot 2 minutes before this one was her head stuck halfway through her pajama top and her making a crazy face. :) )
Oh dear Lord, I'm in love: Got the 14/2.8 today. One heck of a lens. Sharp to the corners, perfect width for a wide prime....love.... Took it for a spin around the Ohio State campus:
The Horseshoe:
the architecture building:
And I can't decide whether I prefer the black and...
I've had my 18-55 for about a month now, and I've used it quite a bit. I've been both pleased and frustrated by it, and I'm wondering if this is normal or if my lens has something wrong with it.
In about 95% of images, it's quite sharp and works well. It's a little softer at the long end...
Left a little early this morning and got some pre-dawn light. Both with X-E1 and 18-55:
Here's the first in B&W (which I actually prefer to the color, though I like both):
Some quick night shots with the X-E1 and 35/1.4. The first one is one of my favorite shots I've taken in the past few weeks.
