How many cameras do you currently own?

I honestly don't know. I have a bunch in a display case and some in camera bags, plus the ones I use. I have tried to do a mental inventory of the ones in bags but failed. Here's one shelf in the case: Argoflexes and A's by telecast, on Flickr

Current forecast is to clear off just enough and just in time to view. I may be shooting through light overcast, not sure. Leaving in about 2 hours to try and get there before the rush, the amount of news coverage this is getting is insane.

Local news just pretty much bore this out from coast to coast. Best viewing is way upstate NY and Vermont. Everything else is iffy from mostly cloudy to rain. We've been 'upgraded' from thunderstorms to mere rain.

Today is surgery two, right eye. I admit to being a tad more nervous than the last time, it being my 'good' eye, (well, it was anyway!) but also my viewfinder eye.

I'm figuring out that processing for these shots is at least half of it. This is from the same group as above, but using only the 1st, 5th, and 9th frames. Trying to capture the sun with what little detail is there and the glow. I like the colors on this one.

To be perfectly honest, I am lucky enough this time around to be right on the very edge of totality and 30 minutes from a state park right on Lake Erie with a HUGE parking lot. Thanks. The surgery was eye-opening (nyuck-nyuck). I could see better out of my new left eye with no glasses better than my old right eye with correction the same day. Sharp, bright, clear. Advice Wanted Anyone using RVNA insurance for their gear?

Not a pro in the strict sense of the word. I don't get paid to shoot, I sell some photos but at low enough volume to not be a business. What I do can be classified on income taxes as a hobby and costs written off as hobby expenses. No tax ID, no DBA (Doing Business As). If it continues to...

Advice Wanted Anyone using RVNA insurance for their gear?

Advice Wanted Anyone using RVNA insurance for their gear?

No problem, I appreciate the response. It seems strange that no one can post some empirical or anecdotal evidence for a company they've had good experience with, there has to be people on here who are insured separately.

Advice Wanted Anyone using RVNA insurance for their gear?

Someone on another forum has been looking into them and asked a few questions. The policy is more straightforward than most with few caveats for the gear replacement sections. I have no interest in the business liability or set/prop/employee sections. Coverage is based on replacement value, not...

I have homeowner's insurance for the structure and contents, and auto insurance for anything to do with or in the car. Advice Wanted Anyone using RVNA insurance for their gear?

Considering the places I shoot at I think I need gear insurance. I don't run a professional business in the formal sense, so I don't need liability. Ran across this company that rates pretty high that will provide gear insurance only. Their price for my rough estimate of gear value is $200...

GAS Considering a new system. Maybe Sony.

I have the 24, 35, and 135. Have had zero issues. I think you can still get the lens station at B&H for $39, worth the investment. Recent firmware issues were mostly with regard to the A6700, A7cII and A7cR. Samyang has completed firmware updates on all of them...

GAS Considering a new system. Maybe Sony.

When looking at Tamron, try to stay with the newer releases. Their new AF motors are just as fast as Sony, but the older ones can be slower. I feel like lately Tamron has been pushing more zooms, haven't seen a new prime from them in a while.

Are you going to need new cards for all those MP? I've been using 128G SD cards in the 33 and 42 MP cameras, but will order a 256G for the new one. I've used mostly Sony Tough cards, but tried a Kingston Canvas React Plus 128 based on their ratings in Sony and am very happy with it. Prices are...

Oh, I agree completely. Sony makes a whole slew of very nice lenses. My comments were based on cost v. value. Unless you simply must have the Sony, there are plenty of lower-cost alternatives.

Don't ignore Samyang/Rokinon. The only E-Mount primes I own are theirs. The 24/1.8 is extremely small and a fantastic lens. I also have the 35/1.4 and 135/1.8. All of these lenses perform at the top level. With the extensive lens selection available, there are only a handful of reasons to...

What can I say that hasn't been said? Most know I made the switch to Sony when the A7 IV was released a couple years ago. I thought I would start small and use A-Mount lenses with the adapters to save $, and I did that with good success, but not for long. GAS got the better of me, however I...

Anyone in the US ever use Panamoz? (UK)

Thanks, but it doesnā€™t apply. The camera will be grey market. Panamoz provides their own in-house 3-year warranty.
