I suggest that you experiment with the camera's many features. Using DoF tables with the lens set at f1.7, and set at wide angle (24 mm equivalent), set the camera focus at 5 m. The Depth of Field will be from 2.4 m to infinity. Check out photopills.com, one of many online calculators available.
