You know, once you look past the flashy new features like the EVF and the faster lens. There are actually some other very nice things. The M3 has 5 axis IBIS and full sensor readout video. That video is now at twice the bitrate of the older models.

Everyone was saying that they didn't see how it could have a builtin flash and a popup EVF. But they sacrificed the hot shoe and used that space for the flash. Also that popup EVF looks like it pops out too.

It's purely marketing. Sony is spreading things out. The A77M2 is being announced in London on 5/1 but it won't be announced in Hong Kong until 5/7. Why have two announcements? Only Sony knows.

I thought we were talking about the latest Panasonic sensors. Compared to the older Panasonic M43 sensors the RX100 devastates, particularly at high ISO. Those older Panasonic sensors are not very good by current standards.

Take a NEX and subtract 2 stops of ISO performance. Or take a Sony sensored M43 camera and subtract 1 stop of ISO performance. I consider it the equal of a modern Panasonic sensored M43 camera.

I think the desire for for a small body and a brighter lens are mutually exclusive. The tilt LCD only makes the body 2.4mm thicker, if that makes it too big.. I don't think Sony will be able to make the lens brighter yet keep the same body size.
