Truth be told, I dont notice much IQ difference with the f:2.8s versus their kit quality counterparts. Then again, I havent really pitted them against each other under dire circumstances. Also, I have had and have a few of the 14-42EZs, but tend to carry the 12-32 for the 12 mm end anyhow...

Those are great and proper, and I would rather have those than a cheap set(early gen) observational Night vision. I wouldn't like to carry them around for the occasional spot, though. Not without a chiropractor on speed dial, that is. :laugh1:

Indeed they are, but still quite a bit larger and heavier than the 8X30, I have several sets of binocs rating from 6X30, via 7X42, 7X50, 8X30s to the 10X25. For daily use or the quick "look at that thing over there", the 10X25s is great as they are brought with, when you are not knowing that...

Looks nice, and that 8x30-32 is probably the best General Purpose range size binocs out there. The compact sets are nice for a quick glance, but good quality 8Xs is in my opinon good for carrying, works for prolonged observation as well as the quick spots under way.

I have no idea about how the Sony fares, photography wise, but I find the OM-1 to be a proper beast of a machine so far, and well balanced with the Oly 100-400. Combined with the two f:4 12/-150 zooms, it is a somewhat decently sized package, with the whole set-up is weighting in at about 2,6...

My 8-18 haven't seen much use after I got the 9 mm. I very seldom carry just one lens, and the overlap of the 8-18 with any of the zooms starting with 12 at the wide end is rather large, and the reach step-up pairing it with a Tele zoom is somewhat too broad. I am pondering selling it.
