Off-load to where, Tony? Another program I have on all my Android devices is "File Manager Pro" aka "File Manager +". The paid version allows me to connect to any of my PC network drives in any of our computers, via the moderately fast WiFi chip in our tablets and phones. They vary from ~500...

Maybe, just maybe, (wishful thinking?) it's a battery problem, Chris. Have you got another BLS-5/50 (?) to try in it? I had a brand new battery (not OEM) for my E-PM2 that charged and worked once, then failed completely. The other off-brand battery from the same place works fine. Batteries can...

I would be inclined to keep the E-M10, if it's the MkII, and its two kit lenses. Fantastic little camera, even today.

It's why I've disabled Edge, and use Firefox, Brave and Chrome in more or less that order. Ad and poxware blockers on all three, plus MalwareBytes Premium. Windows 11 seems every bit as bad as the modern versions of MS Office. Incompetently programmed, bloatware and full of poxy, useless stuff...

Nah, Richard. Just a whining noise, like a fan bearing that needs a drop of sewing machine oil. On older PCs, the PSU fan was often the only box fan, so the HDDs can die from overheating or heat induced head crashes.

That always helps, IME. Again, IME, while the paste might be hard and nasty, it still works (with Intel CPUs and heatsinks, at least). While I have a nice big syringe of heatsink paste, I've only ever used about 1/10th of a thimble full of it, in about 20 years. A common mistake is to use far...

Well done, Richard. You can never have too much RAM, or too much hard disk space. I hope you have a nice reliable spinner or two, just in case your nice new NVME.2 drives decide not to play.

My Pioneer SA1000 amplifier has just turned 50 y.o. So have my Tannoy 15" Monitor Gold speakers. Both still perform beautifully, better than my ears do (hearing aids). My E-M1 MkII still takes beautiful photos, nearly 8 years on, as do my collection of lenses for it and my E-M1 MkI and E-PM2...

@MiguelATF Miguel, the two main issues with this lens that I have experienced are: Failure of the ribbon cable over time; and Some copies can be severely decentred. My first (new) copy was slightly decentred, and the ribbon cable failed after not a lot of use. My second used copy (like new)...

I'm certain that you will greatly enjoy this lens, Aaron. It has a greater native range than all of my OM1 lenses combined (28mm to 200mm), and every bit as good optically at every aperture and FL, if not better ... If I could only have a single lens, this would be the one.

Pretty much all cameras since about 2003 have been more than capable ... We are all better served by concentrating on our own shortcomings, IMHO. Like every 'rule' or generalisation, there are exceptions, of course.

Totally agree, Charles. As I said, I'm going to leave it at least another week before I go for a test drive with Heather. Yes, I empathise, Edd. I currently have Hospital in the Home that does my INR and checks everything else daily. Not being allowed to drive is a real pain, for both myself and Heather. We have a Commonwealth guideline "Fitness to Drive" that covers everything, Australia wide, with some states...

Andrew, the 8080WZ was a positive speed demon compared with writing TIFF files on my ancient 5 MPx Nikon E5000 - roughly 55 seconds per shot! RAW files were about half that time. Great little camera for its age though. I used it for about two years before Heather bought me an E-510 with the two...

Same with the E-PM2. Fantastic little beastie. Not that it couldn't have done with some improvements - EFCS and respectable IBIS, for example - but a real little powerhouse, nonetheless.

Hard to be "too busy" while I'm nailed down in the brain injury ward, Scott, but thanks anyway. The doctor was quite evasive when I asked about when I would be going home. The problem seems to be when to start the anticoagulant medication again and how much. I take Warfarin for both my...

Yeah, Irene, I've also noticed that the cracking sharpness I can see on local images usually gets a bit lost after upload too. It's possibly why some people chronically over-sharpen their images for display here, and elsewhere.

I haven't bought anything photographic since my 8-25, quite a while ago now. Have you left it (the E-PL2) for a couple of days or a week with a fully charged battery in it, Randy? This sometimes recharges the internal power source enough to hold the date and time.

Andrew, these days, I almost always travel by car, so carrying 3 kits on the back seat is hardly a problem. My good lady wife is reconnecting with ILCs, using my E-M1 MkI + 12-50 macro and 40-150R.

    Personal gear review

Agree with your above reasoning, Andrew. Personally, I find that my 12-100 rarely leaves my E-M1 MkII. With (relatively) modern sensors and modern PP software, f/4 is perfectly usable. Combined with an f/1.8 prime of choice for dark times. I also take my 8-25, f/1.8 25 and 75-300 MkII. Or...

Well, we are contributing half the cost of my brother and sister-in-law's solar panel upgrade. That eats a little bit of a hole in our stash, Andrew. And I really need another camera like I need an extra hole in my head, So ... :) .
