GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Oh, what have I done. I wound up trading the Leica Q to the local camera store for credit (while it was behaving) as well as most of the stuff I got from the office last week. That said, it only cost me $235 for my new Zf (kit) and gripā€¦ Iā€™ve also ordered an FTZii and an extra battery from...

Got my Leica Q back today. Of course itā€™s working just fineā€¦no issues whatsoever with the back screen. Although the guy forgot to send the detachable power cord for the factory battery charger šŸ™„ Anyways, should be easy to trade in. Iā€™ll probably do that this weekend.

I mean, itā€™s not the end of the world, to the extent that Iā€™ll just grab another one next week lol. This was just the prettiest one in the box though, while the others where a little more thoroughly used.

You can, and I do that on my OM5, but the original EM10 didnā€™t even have a function switch.

Actually found the cable; and no luck. Also verified the batteries it came with work in my OM5. Damn.

Iā€™m going to try plugging it into a usb powerā€¦if I can find one of those old style cables, and see if that wakes it up.

Well, quick update. The G7 works great, only about 2700 shots. I got the AF on the 80D working (custom menu functions were goofed with), so hooray. However, the beautiful EM10 (original) that probably has less than 100 shots on it, died within minutes of putting a fully charged battery in. It...

The magic closet at work giveth again. Today, a Canon 80D and lens (doesnā€™t appear to autofocus, not sure if itā€™s a camera or lens issue), a Panasonic G7 and lens, and Olympus EM 10 and 2 lenses and a grip, some extra batteries and chargers, and a Rode microphone. I may keep some, sell some, or...

Well, Iā€™m acquiring my Leica Q back from the person who just bought it šŸ™„ An issue I totally forgot about (so didnā€™t disclose it), happened the minute the guy turned it on. Two years or so ago, the rear screen looked like it had broken and bleeding pixelsā€¦then a couple days later it went back to...

GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

I hiked with it for 7.5 miles today, and put 1,500 shots through it and the OM1 mkii. Iā€™m still forming my opinion on both, and havenā€™t looked at pics on the PC yet, but I can say with certainty I wonā€™t be switching my main system from Canon back to OM. The lens reach is outstanding, but knowing...

Picked up the OM1 mkii, 150-600, and 90mm macro today for my 4 day test & wow from OM/my local shop. Iā€™ll be out the next two days trying to get some good wildlife and birds in particular, and maybe even the eclipse on Monday if the weather holds.

The magic work closet isnā€™t completely empty, as it bestowed two gifts upon me today. 1) I was invited to support the next photography event for work (Iā€™ve done 4 so far - most while I worked in the photography division) and am over the moon to support one again. Canā€™t wait to make some great...

    Switching from Canon to Sony

I think it may depend on the editing software you use as well. Iā€™m a little surprised to hear that, as I was just talking with a friend whoā€™s a wedding photographer and uses Sony, and she is upset with how Adobe handles Sony colors. Iā€™ve also seen this pop up on YouTube and elsewhere, with...

The 8-25 is still Olympus branded I believe. I donā€™t think theyā€™ve converted that one to OM Systems yet. Even the OM website still uses product pics of that lens where it says Olympus. My OM5 and 20mm f1.4 both came in the cheap boxes, and both are OM branded. Pretty sure this was one of the...

OM systems is doing a wow and try event (or something to that extent), so I have a free 4-day rental lined up on an OM-1 mkii and the 150-600 for early April. That adapter is on the list for a Zf if I pick one up. Let me know how it goes if there are any updates. The idea of getting autofocus on my old F mount lenses (albeit through a ai to m adapter in conjunction) is really appealing.

I sold my Nikon F mount 85mm 1.8g shortly after picking up my Canon 85mm RF macro. Iā€™ve since sold the Canon. Today I picked up another Nikon 85mm 1.8g for a smoking price on FM.

Whelp, doesnā€™t seem anyone has wanted to buy my Pentax K200D, so Iā€™ve decided to keep it for now. I do really enjoy it and the sensor. Iā€™ve decided to part out and sell the kit lenses, and buy a single half decent prime for it instead. So grabbed a like new 50mm 1.8 for under $90. I seriously...

100% agree. Half the reason I went this big was for the giant beautiful negatives. Instant would be a step backwards imo. But, it would be instant gratification, and in the long run, cheaper than the $4 a pop each shutter press costs me currently. I hear people use it to ā€œtestā€ exposure and...

An eBay lose and win today. The battery adapter for my new Electro 35 arrived today, and unfortunately the camera is as dead as a door nail. So itā€™s boxed up and on the way back. Does anyone use a sort of hide?

Iā€™ve seen some pop up hides that look pretty slick, but Iā€™ve stayed cheap. I bought a pair of tiny retractable fishing poles, and some camouflage netting. I secured the netting to the poles with some zip ties, and have a couple spots in the netting slightly cut for a lens to be inserted. The...

Just curious: your most fun DSLR to shoot?

Oh, forgot to mention I also shot a Canon D30, and 80D. I suppose (no offense to Canon, which is my current main mirrorless), but Nikon DSLRs are just built like tanks and I find very them enjoyable to use. I canā€™t say I ever melded or loved the Canons enough to even bother mentioning them here...

Just curious: your most fun DSLR to shoot?

Iā€™ve had the D1X, the D7100, and the Df. Df is my all time favorite camera to shoot, of any style/type, and the only one I still own. Bang for your buck though, if you just want some good old fashioned Nikon DSLR fun, itā€™s hard to beat a D80.

Not crazy, and can definitely be a thing. Some folks over at lomography.com I think sell things like thisā€¦or maybe thatā€™s the Instax adapters. Well, as Iā€™m selling my Q and my M10-P, I had to look for something to fill the void of losing a fixed lens, and rangefinder. Only one clear answer stood out. Iā€™ve actually wanted one of these for years, and this copy looks to be in great shape, and the price was right ($55).
