This is a nice lens. The optical formula is "just Different", a suped-up Cooke Triplet. Minolta lenses of the late 1940s were "just different" optically, well worth looking for if you like unique.

1957 was a great year for me. Don't remember too much, but before that- absolutely nothing. I'll have to pull out the very special 1957 J-8 that I have, one converted from Contax mount- predecessor to the J8M.

I'll probably modify the J-8 early next year- and will document the process. This one-off was done trial and error on the fly, required some longer set screws to hold the focus ring on after re-indexing it.

I modified this one for 0.65m RF coupled focus. You intentionally misassemble the Helical so that the near/far stops are exchanged. . On the Leica M240. All Wide-open, focus using the rangefinder. I have the EVF- used it for some shots, but focus is easier with the RF.

7Art 75mm F1.25, wide-open on the M240. This lens is perfect for fast, low light scenes with a Leica Rangefinder. All using the Rangefinder, not the EVF. Easier to frame and follow the subject with the optical viewfinder.

It's one of the best Military Museums in the Country. When you go, pick a nice day for a walk around the back of the Museum- many monuments to Marines of every Battle.

I caved in. Popflash had the TTArtisans Titanium version for $550. That is cheap- 50mm F0.95, Aspheric design and RF coupled. I will post back on the 50/0.95 and the 90/1.5 Speedmaster- the two lenses for under $1K.

My friend has an M8, and has been using the Button Dance and M8RAW2DNG. Discovered he had a hot pixel and a hot column. I modified the code I use for the M Monochrom to correct the .DNG file as output by M8RAW2DNG. I also left the Gamma Curve option in, not knowing what it would do to the colors...

I use M8RAW2DNG and the button dance whenever shooting low-light, the color noise present in the native compressed DNG files is greatly reduced. ISO1250 equiv, shoot at ISO160 and push 3 stops. ISO2500 equiv- shoot ISO160 and Push 4 stops in post.

My Brain is loaded with dedicated firmware for using Rangefinder Cameras.
