Matt, I concur with you that I‘m also inclined to be be “seduced” by my Ricoh GRIII’s 28mm on far too many occasions.

I recently purchased this KMZ (1965) 28mm f6.0 Orion 15 for £149. Photos below. Other 28’s in my collection: Canon f2.8 ltm (Winogrand), Color-Skopar f3.5 ltm, M- Rokkor f2.8 (white spot free) and the Summicron f2 M ASPH.

PetaPixel recently published an article from a German photographer who had his Ricoh GRII sensor modified for monochrome use only. Will Ricoh be so bold as to produce such a model? Hopefully yes.

Yes Brian, good news indeed. When I purchased my Monochrom, pre owned, in 2017 it had had the sensor replaced in July 2015. Could have been a new “old” one though. So far it seems to be OK but it is certainly reassuring that there is this 3rd party service for all M9s, colour or monochrome.

I emailed Kolari today, as their website still states that they only replace the CCD cover glass on M9’s and the Monochrom with a CCD displaying an ID11. Mine gives an ID52 when the service menu is accessed. I received this positive reply, by return, this morning, “Thank you for reaching out...

After viewing albertk’s impressive shots with the Orion 15 I picked up a 1965 vintage KOMZ Orion 15 from the U.K. A few test shots made this afternoo under a rainy sky. All “wide open” at f6 irrespective of the exif data from the Leica M10-P.

The new Visoflex EVF could be of interest, otherwise I’m more inclined to invest in Leica lenses which always seem to appreciate over time. I’m tempted by the APO 35mm Summicron M with the ability to focus to 30cm if using Liveview or the EFV.

My MM, in spite of a new sensor from Leica in July 2015, is now showing signs of corrosion. Suffering from Leica’s initial “new but old” sensor replacement period. Good to read that there are ”cataract surgeons” for Leica M9 series to pick up where Leica left off. Good Oyna.

Traded my CV Color-Heliar f2.5/75mm for the recently discontinued Summarit f2.4/75mm. Love the ability to focus sub 1 metre.

Thanks Brian. I do have a dry cabinet for the majority of my lenses, Sydney gets pretty humid in the summer months, so shall have the M9M body in there when not in use.

My M9M had the sensor replaced in July 2015 and I believe that the replacement date means it had the original sensor replaced with the "original style sensor" that could fail again. Leica only started using the “new sensor” a few months after my replacement date. Hence, I keep my fingers crossed🤞🏻

Around the same time as Brian I picked up a similar J-8M from the same source. Mine isn’t shiny though and in the Canon F2.8/50mm mount. Extremely happy with its performance. Some photos from a walk late this afternoon.

Hi Mike, I have the CV Color-Helier f2.5 LTM. Bought it recently in the sub £200 range from a camera exchange in Melbourne. Whilst I admit I tend more to the 85/90mm range I really happy with the results so far. Small and light in comparison, with say my f1.8/85mm Canon LTM or the 90mm Mike...

And to think I paid a premium for this 1985 Valdai, as it came with a “Passport“ certificate from the factory. Certified shoddy workmanship and QC!! Thanks once again Brian for salvaging my purchase as I had no return option at the time. Skyllaney will certainly have their work cut out for them...

Thats what I did last January and it is still under warranty until November 2019.

I’m in Aus. and just sold my M9, with new sensor change, for AUD2,800 towards a purchase of a used M10 for AUD7,200 with warranty still valid until Nov.2019. Think there are reasonable after market prices out there if one is patient.
