There will be an S1 mk II coming soon. Probably with the 60Mp sensor from the SL3, and maybe a video oriented body with anew 36Mp sensor with fast readout.

I must say I’ve decided that 196Mp pixel shift hi res images from the S1R are a bit pointless. Not only are the files huge and slow the PP down significantly, but the extra detail really isn’t that useful - partly because lens limitations mean that the amount of real extra detail is limited...

Do you find the AF in the SL2 not good enough for your sort of photography? I do mostly landscapes/cityscapes so practically everything I photograph is nailed to the perch, so fancy AF is of no interest to me; but I got the impression that the DFD technology of the SL cameras was good enough...

That's quite a deal. Panasonic are really pushing the S5ii. I guess they need to do something to crack the Sony/Canon/Nikon dominance. But the S5ii is a really good camera, and Panasonic S lenses are all really good too. You can now get the S5ii with 20-60 + 35/1.8 + 85/1.8 for £1800...

I'm loving the IQ off this S1R. Interestingly, I compared its size with the Nikon Z8. There's not much in it (but the Panasonic still weighs in at another 150g more).
