Nice shots. I'm wondering if your mink is actually an otter. I've been trying to get a decent shot of a local mink the last few years and I finally got it the other day, which I posted in "animals wild or domestic". Your critter seems to be bigger than mine with a more powerful tail, and ears...

...but I finally got close enough to get a halfway decent shot of the critter. These guys are so shy around here the minute they spot you they are diving to run silent and run deep.

I've never seen this type of mushroom before. This image is as shot, no enhanced color or contrast. Anyone have a guess as to what these are. They seem to scream "Don't Eat"! There seems to be a white powdery substance on the wood adjacent to the mushrooms, and they appear to have subtle white...

Green (Hoverfly?) on purple flowers (swamp weeds?) Both are pretty small. Miniature almost.

It was 48 degrees this morning. Though it warmed up to the mid 70s by afternoon, I think dragonfly season is drawing to a close. This one getting in some last licks, taking advantage of the warm afternoon sun.

Looks like a Hoverfly. I've read that they are attracted to people for the salt in sweat. I've also read that despite their appearance resembling a bee, they don't sting and you can spot the difference rather quickly by observing it only sports one set of wings, not two like bees and wasps.

The shot is a little soft but it was handheld @ 1/10th second. Really poor lighting but I wanted to at least catch this fawn nursing. Mom has a tick problem, I spotted at least 8 in her right ear alone. Each year the tick issue gets worse here. I wish there was a solution, it really is becoming...

It's definitely a hummingbird moth. Beyond that I don't know the sub classification it belongs to. Very nice!

These daisy-looking flowers are actually about 1/4 to 1/2 inch across. They seem to be part of a weed community. No idea what their official name is so we'll call them 'Faux Micro Daisyettes'

I hadn't noticed one of these reddish dragonflies before, so I grabbed a shot. I figured 'this should be easy to look up'...Ha. There were about 23 reddish dragon flies, each of them almost identical. So, this one is now a 'Reddish Dragonfly' in my official book of Dragonflies.

When I first spotted this turtle today I thought it might be a baby snapper from a spot about 100 feet away from where I saw a snapper laying eggs a few months back. They should be emerging anytime now. However, after review and consultation, we've concluded this little guy is a Northern Map...

I'm pretty sure this is the first one of these I've ever seen, a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth. It's always a good feeling when you come home with something you never got a shot of before. I doubt I will be hunting these for fear of being let down most days, but I'm glad I bagged one today!

Arcadia is a very, very small 'town'. It is mostly nature preserve but has a couple of blocks that have homes and small businesses. The area is pretty remote with lots and lots of wooded terrain and marshland. An animal's dream location. So it always amazes me when I drive through the areas...

What a cool looking critter! It doesn't look like a good jumper though.
