I actually like the Aptina sensor as well. The Sony BSI sensor has more of a modern look, different for sure. Though after weighing the pros and cons I kept my J5 and sold the V1 mainly due to better low light performance and greater dynamic range! Post some photos when you get your new camera!

I actually prefer my D750 when it comes to image quality. The raws can take a real pounding with less tweaking. The D700 takes more finesse, but I picked up a used D700 body mainly as a cheap 8fps camera when paired to my 300mm f/4 PF VR. For mainly daytime shooting, it works great!

Hey John, didn't you sell that kit or you planning on coming back? To be honest, I'm applying all the editing tricks I learned shooting raw on M43 and applying them to Nikon 1. Seems to work just as well!

Some of the newer lenses like the 10-30mm PD VR and 10-100mm non-PD VR are more in-line with what the Nikon 1 should have been about. Too bad Nikon mismanaged the system into the ground! On the bright side, at least with the FT-1 adapter, the cameras act as a cheap "teleconverter" as sorts. ;)

The more I work with the Nikon V1 files, the more I'm getting used to extracting the detail. Interestingly enough, I feel like I'm getting less blown highlights with V1 files than I did with my Pen-F 20mp M43 files!?! :eek: I'm now on the lookout for a Nikon 6.7-13mm VR in black if ones happens...

I find the files really need to be massaged via raw to extract good image quality, but I find the underlying foundation of the system to be very good. To be honest I think Nikon is a bit lost regarding mirrorless. The Z cameras show promise, but at the same time they act like the competition...

I recently picked up a pair of V1 cameras, a 10-30mm PD, 18.5mm 1.8 and an FT-1 adapter. I found shooting raw, applying the same presets as M43 (with slight adjustments) works very well with Nikon 1 files. Even thought the sensor sucks, the OSPDAF is still very advance it makes it a fun camera...

I'm thinking of picking up a cheap M43 body. The Nikon 1 is great using AF lenses, but it's really miserable using it for adapted glass other than Nikon. I have a 25mm 1.4 CCTV lens I want to use, but using it on the Nikon 1 isn't very friendly.
