Dating from the 1200's, this is part of the town walls in Shrewsbury. Originally a lookout post over the surrounding countryside, now a National Trust property available to hire.

I love the shape of this old building in the centre of Northwich in Cheshire. A little research shows that it was originally built in 1816 as 'The Waterloo'. On the arrival of a new landlady in 1839 it was renamed 'The Beehive'. Due to subsidence in the town (known for its underground salt...

I spent many happy hours inside this building as a child, borrowing books from the library in Runcorn, Cheshire. It was an oasis of calm with wonderful wooden shelving and oak flooring. Sadly it closed many years ago and the council hope to demolish it; though there is a group of locals, who...

Waterloo Bridge, Runcorn, Cheshire. It just about spans the Bridgewater Canal, but as you can see the canal ends in the foreground. From this point the canal used to split in two and proceeded via a series of locks, to join up with the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey. Sadly, the...

We managed a couple of days away in the motorhome in Llangennech. I'd plotted a circular route from our campsite but the access was impenetrable. So, we ambled around and found this nice track......... ....which led down to this nice footbridge over Afon Morlais.

This is St. Teilo's church, thought to be 12th or 13th century, originally located near Swansea. It was dismantled in 1984 and rebuilt at the Welsh National Museum of History at St.Fagans, finally reopening in 2007.
