An abandoned old folks home that could be used as a set for a horror movie… heck it was thought to be haunted when we’d go there as kids for Halloween when it was actually still open. Creepy as all f**k even then… Ghostie sez “Boo!” Fits the gloomy weather.
Temperature is cooler than it's been (38F/3C after 60F/16C yesterday) but the sun still peaks out from the clouds. Winter isn't far but it's still fall.
See, I don't think of most of these as too dark as I prefer to have images that reflect when they were taken. To brighten some of them more would lose my sense of the place and time they were taken; especially the late afternoon ones.
I do wonder if there might be a difference in our screens...
HaldCLUT (Hald Color Look-up table) is a collection of profiles to mimic the look of various film types. I find them useful personally but they aren't to everyone's taste. I know folks who really like the Fuji built in ones, for example, but I like these better.
No, I shoot RAW but I do only a fairly light post processing using ART (currently version 1.20.2). Mostly a HaldCLUT profile and curves adjusting before saving as jpg.
Still, towards the end of the day, waiting for the supper club I'd had recommended to me opened, I was waiting in the town of Trempealeau. The bronze worked better than expected with the wide angle. The river, a tow boat & a fast moving train while having a super wide mounted at sunset was an...
Still, lots of intersting things to see as the light changed through the day. I came back to a couple of places - one called horseshoe falls (no water this time of year) was rather fun to see that way.
The 17 is the widest angle I've ever used. Still not sure what to make of it sometimes.
OTOH at the wildlife refuge, i found myself wishing for a longer reach. Going to have to break down and buy that 300/4.5 AI-S in my Eprey watch list!
My company doesn't allow one to roll over vacation time. Use it or lose it! So, I'm taking it off and Monday was the first day of it. Drove south and west through the rolling countryside finding interesting things along the way. I took my D810 with 28-105 & Tokina 17/3.5 along with my Nikon S-2...
Went for a nice long drive this afternoon to and from an old Grist mill on the other side of the county from me. A pleasant way to spend my day off.
All shot with my M 240, Chiyoko 50/2 at ISO 200.
If you do go on vacation, I can highly recommend the resorts and beaches near Phan Thiet on the South China Sea coast, especially at Mui Ne. Beautiful white sand dunes and the sun dried squid is delish!
