    A most beautiful superfund site!

It's actually not bad! I still have my RX10 and an A6000, but this is my "I believe this to be a picture worth the time" camera. BULLET LIST! I think it's more ergonomically friendly than the Merrill. The shot-to-shot performance and the screen are vastly superior. The focus in low light...

    A most beautiful superfund site!

Sigma DP2 Quattro. Harbor Island near West Seattle, WA. 15s, ISO200, F/8. The export has a lot more noise than the original. Need to work out how to handle noise with the Quattro. Very little post, even though it looks very painterly. The Quattro long-exposure is fickle as hell. Sometimes you...

A spring morning down by the water

Good call. The mkii is super cool, but I came to realize that videography is a whole separate skill set. At $500, the RX10 is HANDS DOWN the best deal in cameras IMO.

Wow! Where in the world did you get that deal? Average used price is 800-900 usd

A spring morning down by the water

Thanks. Honestly the much cheaper mki has identical photo quality and can be had for under $500 on eBay. I've sold most my gear as the rx10 is just so good and versatile.

"Sharpness is a bourgeois concept" will be a tattoo on my face.

A terrible camera that produces singular images

So, after owning (and mostly loving) the Sigma DP Merrill cameras, I decided I would create a camera dichotomy: 1) A Sony RX10 mkii which is likely the most technically sophisticated, easy-to-use, compact, and multi-purpose camera ever made. It produces detailed, clinically accurate files with...

Another Mountain Sunset on the Docks

When I'm lazy, I go down to the beach a few miles from my house. It is endlessly photogenic. All with RX10 mkii. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

3 different shots of the same thing

I was out yesterday and saw a huge line of Seagulls sitting on the roof of the boathouse down on the beach. There wasn't really a way to get a particularly symmetrical shot, so I did the best I could. Sony RX10 mkii 1) 2) 3)

A cold and foggy morning on the water

It was 29 degrees and foggy as all hell this morning, so I got up MUCH earlier than usual and headed down to a small park across the water from downtown Seattle. All taken with RX10 or RX100 IV. Amazingly, the first shot is pretty much OOC. The others are various levels of processed in LR. 1)...

A dramatic storm during sunset flying out of Belize

Thanks. I took about 150 in ten minutes. Will probably do a whole separate post with all of them. I took a 4K video too, but that takes forever to edit and grade.

Beautiful Nicaragua part deux! (panos, astro, sunset, ect)

More pics from lovely Nicaragua. All with the RX100. Believe it or not, the sunset pics were taken within about 15 minutes. Really breathtaking sunset I got to see. The rainbow was also stunning. The picture doesn't really do it justice. In reality, it looked as vibrant as a Lucky Charms...

Beautiful Nicaragua (astro and beach pics) part I

I've found f/2, ISO1600, and 20 seconds to be the "magic formula" for astro shots. I'm by no means an expert, but if you can get true dark skies with little or no artificial light, that seems to work best. This is across 3 or 4 cameras now. I'm going to experiment with my NEX-6 and a...

Beautiful Nicaragua (astro and beach pics) part I

Thanks all. SC is pretty much the only non-brand specific spot worth posting photos anymore. Kinda sad, isn't it?

Beautiful Nicaragua (astro and beach pics) part I

Went to Nicaragua for two weeks and brought only my beat-up RX100. It performed flawlessly. I had no idea how capable it was with astrophotography. Used a guerrilapod and a plastic deck chair on the beach to take the night shots. Auto mode for the beach/sunset shots. Will update with more shots...
