Thanks, but I wouldn't call myself an expert at it. I've done around half a dozen at various sizes, and they can be tricky.

Lately I have been enjoying making small boxes from reclaimed wood. The first pic is of a Honduran Mahogany box I made from a vintage cigar box. I disassembled it carefully, sanded all surfaces to remove the graphics, reassembled it inside out, and I added a hidden wood hinge system with magnet...

I haven't done a pen in a while, so today I took a piece of well seasoned White Oak and made myself a rollerball for my desk.

My mint UK-made Record Plough Plane arrived today, complete with the original instructions and a full set of very sharp cutting irons in both metric and imperial sizes. I took it right out of the box, assembled it, and tested it on some well seasoned White Oak. Once I got the depth of cut...

Some of you may recall that I discovered a large spalted Silver Maple cut up and dumped in a ravine on our church property back in NOV 2021. I was able to cut and retrieve several decent size chunks, which I took home and milled into smaller chunks and slabs, to dry for future projects. Pieces...

I took a cracked and punky piece of driftwood, stabilized it with black epoxy, and carved another one of my slightly offbeat bowls.

Sometimes I just don't want to go out to the garage and drag out the power tools. The Black Cherry bottom for my newest project needed cut to size, so I carefully laid out the cut lines, then cut slightly outside the lines with a Ryoba saw. A few minutes with the plane and an engineers square...

A relaxing and satisfying evening using a shooting board to square some spalted Maple pieces for a new project. A well honed plane is a joy to use.

Yep, I considered going out for another ride this morning, but I wasn't enthused about doing another ride with the temp in the 20s.

I appreciate the kind words, fellas. I appreciate any kind of woodworking. The box above is one of only a handful I've made in my time. Rob Cosman has really turned box making into an art form, and I want to try a few of his ideas.

It's pretty small, close in size and weight to my Fuji X30. It would not feel right with a large lens like the 12-40/2.8 or 35-100/2.8. My shooting style if I'm using a rear screen is to have my right hand through the camera strap with my ring finger and pinkie under the camera, and the camera...

I wonder what Yoshihisa Maitani would think of modern cameras like the E-P7. I would think they would fit within his ethos. His original Pen F film lens from the 1960s looks like it was made for the E-P7. Glad I kept the adapter when I sold the E-M1 Mk III last year. Charging the battery now...

A couple of years ago a medium size White Oak on the hillside directly below our house fell. I cut a few pieces for bowl blanks, and thought about cutting the rest for firewood, but it was pretty large at the base, and I discovered even small pieces of the dense, wet wood were very heavy. I cut...

I took the week off from home improvements to work on some personal projects on the lathe. Yesterday was the small bird's mouth bowl. Earlier was the handle for a hobby knife. Today was a handle for a screwdriver from Desert Ironwood, my first time using this dense, heavy wood.
