    How's weather at your place?

Since I haven't stopped by this website for several years, I thought I'd tease you all a bit. Yesterday and today have been the stuff of dreams weather-wise. High of about 77 degrees, but with a nice breeze to keep one from sweating. Mostly sunshine with a few fluffy, beautiful clouds. I hope...

    Life Changes

That is the day I most dread....and there is no way to prepare for it. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think our hobby of trying to capture the light can be of some help (if anything can). I hope that memories of the good times will bring you some consolation during this time of grief and loss.

US Stock Market - Hedge Funds vs. Reddit ($GME, $AMC)

I think some of the videos that I have seen are hilarious where they show some disheveled college student who is excited that he has made made $280 (on paper) in one day. And meanwhile the hedge fund has lost hundreds of millions. Makes me wonder if the trading platform Robinhood ("Steal from...

    Question for the audiophiles

The 120 is popular for it's built-in phono pre-amp and USB connectability.....but the DJ needs neither of those "features" so the 140X drops them and the company spends the money on things more important to a DJ, like a more industrial suspension system to keep loud sounds and bouncing floors in...

    Question for the audiophiles

Hmmmm. The LP140X does not have a built-in phono preamp. You won't be able to use that with powered speakers (I don't think) without first going into a phono preamplifier.

Rant: I think I’m done with USPS for a while

It puts the seller in a real bind when the shipper is the REASON for the return. The USPS needs to get blown up and start from scratch. Or just stick to delivering mail and leave package delivery to the ones that can do it properly. The problem is all the money is in packages. They need to...

Christmas came early for Star Wars fans

You must have misunderstood me, Sue. I am NOT anti sci-fi. I just haven't seen anything good from the Stars Wars brand since the 80s. I obviously haven't seen it all, but I just lost interest in anything with their branding. Maybe I'll check out Dark Matter since you both recommend it.

Christmas came early for Star Wars fans

When the original Star Wars came out, I was in grade school....and named Luke. I've put up with people doing the "Luke, I am your father" in horrible Darth Vader voices ever since then. I LOVED that first movie....bought a bunch of the toys and played with them. I loved the Empire Strikes Back...

    Question for the audiophiles

I haven't heard them, but they get good reviews. I think they are likely a good price to performance buy. And if she loves listening to records, you can get her an upgrade for next Christmas (if she even sees the need for one)

    Question for the audiophiles

at my record shop, I suggest that if the max budget for the turntable alone is under $300.....the only two choices for a NEW turntable are the ones debated about it here..... U-Turn Orbit Plus VS. Audio Technica AT-LP120 turntable? If the budget can be stretched upwards a bit, one can get a...

Well, I finally gave up trying to attach my strap to my camera and have ordered this second set of rings. Seems dumb that I need some triangular rings to connect my camera to my circular rings on the strap, but we'll see.

I just want to smash it

I can NOT for the life of me spread the little metal ring wide enough apart to slip it in to the eye hole on the camera. These are the thickest, stiffest rings I have ever encountered. Is there some kind of tool I can buy to help in this process? I really don't want to smash my camera, but...

a grim story about climate change in the US (with some great photos)

That may be where the definition is heading, but that word really started it's life with a broader meaning ..... "aware of the facts". But language evolves.....sometimes faster than people. If we all asked more questions, we would certainly all be better off.

    How's weather at your place?

Wisconsinites seem to believe that this sunny warm day near the end of April means no more snow this year. The sound of a dozen roaring snowblowers being run dry of gasoline fills the air. I had to close the windows. I prefer quietude recycled air to fresh air and noise.

I flips the pieces over every 30 minutes and spoon juices over them to keep them moist and make sure they brown evenly. Cooking...
