So glad you came through physically unscathed. Hope you can let it go and move on. Vehicles can be replaced but body damage and mental stress are real things that linger. Have a safe remainder of 2023.

    Ah, poo.

Sorry Tony, hope you recover soon. Take it slow. My wife still has long covid symptoms from the original Covid in 2020. Luckily I had it once and the symptoms were gone after a couple of months. Just had the newest booster a couple of weeks ago.

GAS Latest Shiny Things (non camera related)

Great info Tony. I have avoided researching ebikes to any extent primarily because of the whole battery lifecycle. Plus the noted dangers of fire ignition. And something that has been always important for me is the very positive experience of human powered riding. But I am over 60 and to travel...

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

Just finished book three in the "The Wheel of Time" series. So far I find it less formulaic than the books in the long interlinked Terry Brooks fantasys.

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

Agree, I have enjoyed Jacksonā€™s adaptation many times. He captured the spirit of it all quite well. And the casting was really well done. But as in many adaptations the source material is rich and rereading it highlights some of the missing or rearranged bits.

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

After reading the LOTR and the Hobbit multiple times from early teenage, I was really thrilled with Silmarillion was released. It has since really become my favorite Tolkien book. But I can sympathize with those who find it difficult. It is very dense and keeping track of all the references and...

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

I am on the last book of the LOTR audiobook by Andy Serkis. Although I am not a big fan of how Peter Jackson rearranged his adaptation, the Gollum character, voiced and live acted by Serkis, is remarkable. If you have only listened to the older audiobook version, I highly recommend giving this...

    Music Headphones thread

Most of the ā€˜popularā€™ music today seems to me so over produced and tinted with auto tuned vocals that is sounds soulless. Certainly there are exceptions, but for the most part it provides little emotional impact and in fact can get annoying very quickly.

    Music Headphones thread

Got the hardwired Sennheiser 650s for when the ambience is quiet. But around our house that is rarely anything but late nights. Use the AirPods ProMax when traveling and around the house on a daily basis. They sound great for a wireless set up and noise canceling is top notch. The are a bit...

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

Just finished The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North. It is a fascinating story the starts a little slow but evolves in to an amazing novel about people who's lives are like a never-ending cycle of rebirth to relive the same life over and over. Nicely done and makes me wanting...

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

Just finished Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell. Good, but not his best. It is about a fictional 60ā€™s rock band story that has elements connecting back to some of his characters in his other books. I liked it but not as much as some of his other novels.

time for a new smart phone

Am I the only one that does this?

I started out at the university as a journalism major, but have determined over the years that I totally suck at rightā€™in. If it wasnā€™t for spell check! Then there is autocorrect. OMG I usually know what I want to write, but most of time when reread, words are missing and out of sequence.

After years of putting it off, I finally started reading Robert Jordonā€™s Wheel of Time epic series. I never thought I would since there are so many volumes. Any bicycle enthusiasts on here? Deciding on a cheap commuter bike?

I haven't had a single speed bike since I was a child. But they do see interesting for workouts.
