Wife was honored again for her volunteering

My interview went as well as this emotional old man could wish. I look like I have one foot already in the grave and I don't do well on TV. I was just in two-day long mediations on medical negligence cases and was forceful and talked with purpose. Those who want to see her story, here is the...

Wife was honored again for her volunteering

My wife, Linda G. was honored by the inner city baseball league called League 42. 42 was Jackie Robinson's number when he played and was the first black to make it to the Major Leagues. Both of us answered a call for volunteers 11 years ago when a local newspaper sports reporter had an idea to...

I had a stroke last night

John, for many years I was an attorney who specialized in medical negligence litigation. I tried many cases for the injured and sometimes deceased person who was harmed by negligence or malpractice. There was a lot of money in being the plaintiff's counsel if we won the case and lots of misery...

    A very bad 6 months

I hate to add another problem but today, I took Linda's faithful little Chihuahua in to the Vet for her lethargy. She is staying there for two nights while they try to work on her. She did not have renal failure and the Doctor did tests she told me that Sissy's liver was acting up and she is...

    A very bad 6 months

That is my therapy. I still take my camera to basketball games, on outings and will be more active when the weather improves.

    A very bad 6 months

6 months ago, I was happy with my wife and three dogs. I had my former attorney friends to talk with and reminisce. My wife was killed in an accident at the high school when two football players in full gear going after a ball ran her down on the sidelines, and she hit her head on concrete and...

    Cameraederie member Linda Gregory remembered.

On November 6th of this year, my wife would have celebrated another year of life, but instead, we celebrated what was her life in a celebration of life for her. It was held at the gymnasium of the school she loved and was injured while covering a game a couple of months before. Most of the...

    Thinking of selling wife's gear.

I think I will get estimates on a lot of gear. In addition to the OM-1, I will list a EM-1ii, EM-10, Panasonic DMC-G5, a very old and little used Oly EPL-1, 25mm 1.7Panasonic, 60mm 2.8 Sigma,, 50MM 1.8 NIKON AF,and maybe some older Nikon bodies such as D2xs. It seems that the realization of...

    Thinking of selling wife's gear.

Some of you know that my wife had an accident while shooting a football game when she was knocked into a concrete apron when two players in pursuit knocked her down. She was using her Olympus OM-D Em1x with the 40-150mm 2.8 with 1.4x teleconverter. The force of the collision broke the 40-150...

Music The Amazing Emporium of Wondrous Tunes (aka: What are you listening to?)

    W. Eugene Smith was born and raised in my hometown. He graduated from the same high school I graduated from albeit a little earlier. He was a sports editor as was I for the school newspaper and photographed sports all over town. He is fondly remembered here. I first saw his photos of Minimata...

Music The Amazing Emporium of Wondrous Tunes (aka: What are you listening to?)

One of my friends is a photographer for our newspaper--He received an Emmy for his video of the finding of the bones of Father Kapaun who was killed in Korea as a chaplain and is nearing being named a Saint in his church. We have photographed many events together and I have a new calling. He...

My daughter is in England and all I got were her two sheltie dogs.

My oldest daughter is savoring her first fish and chips at Pimlico in London. She goes every year about this time to attend Wimbledon if possible and to definitely attend Glastonbury Festival. She is roughing it with a rented tent with all the amenities of a small hotel room and will spend...

Music The Amazing Emporium of Wondrous Tunes (aka: What are you listening to?)

A local band made up of 4 educators (principals and teachers) and a newspaper journalist and photographer. I have done some photos for them.

What books are you reading for pleasure these days?

I read a lot of non-fiction. I was in the Army Security Agency and I read a lot of books about the agency and our so-called parent agencies the NSA and CIA. I read Ghost Wars: the secret history of the CIA and others-SteveColl. Most of this happened after I left my service but it gives a lot...

    How's weather at your place?

Snow-packed roads, ice on bridges, below zero Fahrenheit temperatures, wind 25 mph. A frigging oasis to escape the warmth of the rest of the world.

    I am being weathered out.

After a short cold spell, we got up to 70 F on Monday. By the time we picked up my daughter from her delayed London to Dallas plane ride and another delay from Dallas home it was 12:52 am and the temperature had dropped into the 20s. Tuesday and Wednesday are to be cold and Thursday is more...

    I am being weathered out.

Chris, I had to go to Minnesota and Wisconsin for depositions in February a few years ago. I have never been so cold in my life. It must take a hardy soul to enjoy winter there.

    I am being weathered out.

I used to own a condominium in WinterPark Colorado and spring season there was mud season. But those summers and falls were worth it.

    I am being weathered out.

Surprisingly, our weather is really changing. We used to be tornado alley but now it is in SE USA. We never used to have earthquakes but they are getting more frequent. Fracking in oil wells is the claimed reason and it is being controlled now. This is a very rare weather swing.

    I am being weathered out.

I wish we could even the moisture out. Our area is good, Western Kansas is in drought. So sad that water is becoming a problem to coastal residents and the lack of it to the interior.

    I am being weathered out.

Yesterday it was in the high 60 degrees F. Last night we received 9 inches of snow and temps in the single-digit F. I know it is February in Mid America but enough is enough. By next Tuesday, highs again in the 60's.

Humor Helpful Info for Mu-43 Migrants

I must admit that I was never a fan of Star Wars, kind of watched StarTrek when it was new, watched a few BSG, saw the movie Alien and the camp movie about FlashGordon but I can not enjoy them now. Wish I could since I would have another topic to talk to fans of this genre. :)

Merry Christmas from our place to yours.

This is from last year. I am the old guy in Lederhosen. My wife, Linda, holds her dog, Sissy. My companion is Pete and he is on my lap and the little dog named Heidi is trying to get under my hat. She had been a rescue and had been with us a couple of weeks. We are in my wife's photography...
