Film Spotmatic, too good, too common to be interesting?

If you really want to go with a Spotmatic, I'd suggest the Spotmatic F as it's the most recent and the most versatile. It has an on-off switch for the meter, can do open aperture metering with SMC lenses and is all around the best of the breed. While it was designed for mercury batteries, it has...

Film Spotmatic, too good, too common to be interesting?

I did too before I made my response ;) I have been trolling ebay for a Spotmatic F lately. I did find one recently that is listed as working perfectly but it looks like it got put in a rock tumbler for a week. I'm not a big cosmetics person so for $40 I may still bite unless the OP wants to get...

Film JJC Film Digitizing Adapter and LED Light Set

I am buying my son a 3d printer for his birthday in January. I am thinking of trying to make a 120 adapter ... or :jedi: Not sure which :ROFLMAO:

No kink but a minimum of 11 years in the fridge. Shrug. It happens.

    Film Entertainment in Film Mistakes.

Yep, that's my guess. I'd gotten my Agfa Rondinax 35 daylight tank about then so I was using it all the time. There are worse problems. Plus I know my Diafine is still good after several years in the closet :) so no need to spend $65 on a new gallon kit.

    Film Entertainment in Film Mistakes.

So I had this old roll of Tri-X film in my fridge that I'd had for years. I wanted to test my Diafine and equipment before developing my good film. So I ran it through my Nikon F4 as an experiment, developed (hmm, negs look ... odd) and scanned it. I had not realized that back when I still lived...

    Film Harmon Phoenix 200

Harmon has some scanning information here: https://www.harmanphoto.co.uk/scanning-tips/ It seems to me that when scanned using that information, it seems to be rather a much better looking though still different film stock.

    Film Harmon Phoenix 200

Haven't seen this noted here so: https://casualphotophile.com/2023/12/01/harman-phoenix-200-the-review/ Harmon Technology, the parent company of Ilford, the famous producer of black and white film in the UK, has introduced a new color film Harmon Phoenix 200 is an ISO200 color film made in...

Film JJC Film Digitizing Adapter and LED Light Set

The built in light source and a bunch of adapter for different lenses made the difference to me. I'll probably spring for the AF micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 D lens eventually for this to simplify things - faster f/2.8 aperture and auto-focus but the fact that the manual focus lens works as well as...

Film JJC Film Digitizing Adapter and LED Light Set

I've been shooting more film again and wanting to find a somewhat more economical approach to it. I can develop at home easily enough with daylight tanks and D-76 and Diafine but scanning has always been the bugbear in the room. Flatbeds have never been worth much for 35mm and good dedicated...

Film Which 100' roll of film to buy?

It's time to start shooting black and white with a bulk roll for developing and scanning at home. I've got those aspects decided upon. I'll be using either Diafine or D76 depending on the shoot and then scanning with my D810 and a rig for a macro lens. But which film to invest it? The film I...

    Film Question about fixer

I never used stop bath :) I used to have a big bucket of hypo and I'd just mix a batch of simple fix, use it once and dump it. Alas, that bucket went missing in my last move. Budgeting in a fresh batch of Diafine and a gallon bag of powdered fixer, preferably non-hardening, so I can get...

    Film Medium format folder discovery

Matt's post made me remember one other suggestion: the Zeiss Mess-Ikonta 524/16. This is a 6x6 camera, red window advance and an _Uncoupled_ rangefinder. You can get the range then transfer it to the lens. It's even less complicated than that sounds but it's really robust and makes for a simpler...

    Film Medium format folder discovery

Super Ikonta 531 The Voigtlander's struts are fragile, it's good you didn't get it. The Zeiss cameras are bricks & tanks. This model is in 6x4.5 which gives 16 supersized (compared to 35mm) images to a roll of 120 film. Mine is post war and has a coated 50/3.5 Tessar in a Synchro-Compur...

    Film Old Concert Photos

Found these shots from a John Doe (of X) solo show back in the early '00's in Madison Wi: Pretty sure it was a Voigtlander Bessa R1 & a Canon 50/1.8. Fuji Superia "Supermarket" 400 film.

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

My favorite is the two bath Diafine. Lasts forever. My current batch is 5 years old. Fixed time, insensitive to temperature variations, Usually get a 2 stop speed boost - I used to do PlusX at EI400. Pour in the A bath & agitate for 3 minutes. Pour it back in its jug and then pour in the B...

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Got my Sekonics L-208 light meter for my meterless medium format cameras. Discovered a Canon 7 for sale locally - may have to budget it in since I have a nice collection of LTM glass these days.

Film Well, How 'Bout This: Ricoh/Pentax Film Camera Development?

Would that I had the time. But for now, I can run C41 through my medium format and stay digital with my M 240. For me, that splits the difference quite well.

Film Well, How 'Bout This: Ricoh/Pentax Film Camera Development?

Having gotten back into medium format semi-seriously, I hope you're right. Right now, I would love to shoot more Kodak Gold & Ektar as well as Ilford XP2 Super. The other thing I'd need, though, is for the price of C41 chemicals to come down out of the stratosphere!

The only Pentax I've used is a great old Honeywell H1A screwmount and meterless and that's what I'd love to see again. ;)

Film Rolleicord III back in action

So, I am in the drawn-out process of moving back to Eau Claire for a new job at a different hotel. I just discovered there is still a real photo lab in Eau Claire that develops film in house! I’d stopped doing any film because mail order labs are prohibitively expensive. While not as cheap as...

    Ilford Pop Up Darkroom

I'm reminded of Weegee developing shots in the back of his car back in the day. That said, I could see getting that too. It would make doing 4x5 much easier again.

Film What FILM (!) photography related item did you buy this week?

Got it today. Nice feeling hunk of well made camera. I think I'm going to enjoy this one quite a bit. Dug out the developing kit, loaded a roll of Arista.edu ultra 100 @ ISO200 and we're off and running.

    Film Diafine Lifespan?

So digging out my developing kit since I have a Nikon F90x on the way, I discovered that I still have a pair of Diafine A&B jugs mixed up. They've been in my closet several years. Anyone know if it should still work? I'll probably experiment with that first roll anyway but just thought I'd put a...

Film If you could only have one (film) camera for the rest of your life?

If it came down to one camera, I'm thinking that I'd choose a Nikon F4. Tough, reliable, handles almost every Nikkor lens ever made, plus I find the ergos fit me better these days.

Nikon F90x and a MB-10 to go with it. No pics yet since I only pulled the trigger yesterday :) With luck I'll be able to burn some Fuji next weekend during the Birke ski race here in town.
