This was shot beneath a bridge with a large ornamental hole cut out. When I looked out, I love how the trees seemed to be extending from the cracks in the concrete. There was very little color so I converted it to black and white.
Our flickr group has a monthly challenge and this month the...
It's been a rollercoaster ride this month. It was nice to know I had some friends along for the ride or I may have quit.
You're all much better photographers than I and I hope it stays that way (or it means you've gone downhill quite precipitously).
I'll remember these 31 days for a long...
I was driving around running errands today as the sun was going down. I snapped off a few shots. Here's an example of a classic Milwaukee High School. Most of them look more or less like this. There are some older and some newer, but the post war boom of the 50s is when a lot of them date from...
Woke up this morning to an quiet that is a little bit eerie living in the city. It could only mean one thing. It was snowing. I peaked through the drapes and then went to make some coffee. I didn't have any shots planned so ripped off a couple safeties.
I was hoping to get some shooting in...
It was a slow day at work. But I was also totally out of ideas for a clever shot of the interior of the record store. So I snapped off a few. None were good.
I played with it for awhile and this is the best I can up with.
I don't make a habit of doing mail order, but I make exceptions for...
I am raising laziness to an art form by submitting a photo of a photo. One of my flickr groups is sharing old photos and since I needed to shoot it anyways, I figured I'd just take the day off creatively (and still have my shot covered). I may do something extravagant to make up for my decadent...
Looked out the window this morning and saw that it was foggy. "Good enough for a photo and then I'll be done for today", I thought. Good thing there's only 5 days left.
I might change the name of my journey to lazy in January.
When I was a little boy, I liked to make funny faces at cute girls or strangers in the car behind us or people at church or pretty much anyone. I was a typical little boy full of mischief. My grandma used to say......"What if your face froze like that?"
Fast forward 30+ years and...
If this image confuses you a bit, allow me to explain. TtV photography (Through the Viewfinder) is a microniche of photography that I just LOVE. It brings me back to when I was first interested in photography. Basically, you just take your modern digital camera and shoot "Through the...
This clearly isn't Florida anymore. It's always nice to come home, but having 4 inches of snow to shovel right when you get off the plane is really a rude way to come home. I almost forgot to shoot a photo for day 21 so I hastily grabbed a few shots when we got home from going for dinner. None...
The sun is so strong in Florida that I was wishing I had an aperture smaller than f22 a few times. I love the way small apertures turn bright lights into stars. It does especially awesome stuff to the shimmer.
I didn't take many shots with my chosen lens on day #16, so all i have to give you is this crazy sad attempt at merging 2 different exposures with some weird ghosting artifacts.
First off....I'm aware that may day #22 is preceding many days from last week, but those shots are at home on my computer yet to be processed (some I haven't even looked at), but I brought the camera to work today and shot this outside my store.
I've seen the eviction notice there for over a...
As I headed out to walk the dogs this morning in our fresh new blanket of snow, the electric meter on the side of the house caught my eye.
I photographed on my return home. One shot only today. This was all I needed. I like it!
I didn't have more than a couple minutes today, so I planned ahead. The snow is coming down pretty good today. A knew of 2 potential shots about 100 yards apart so on my way to work, I pulled into the parking lot for the marina.
My first victim would be the brightly painted "Gift of...
Dutifully drove to a park, fired off some shots, processed this and posted. Feeling the post 1/3 doldrums pretty hard. I thought about quitting and then decided "F--k it". I'm gonna find some new inspiration tomorrow morning....and if not, it'll be the next one.
On a side note, I'll...
My wife had a half day of work so we enjoyed a rare couple hours of daylight time together so we took the dogs for a walk and some fun.
I've added a few other shots because we had so much fun. Of course, I spent most of the morning processing these and now I have to shoot one for today. I...
I very nearly was shut out yesterday for the single in. I had no safeties worth sharing and I brought my camera along for the day and saw nothing worth shooting. As I headed over the bridge which is my last leg home I started to worry about getting home in time to have any decent light. Then it...
When I went to feed the cats their dinner the other night, I noticed a big, bright moon perfectly aligned with the upstairs window. I thought it would be a cool shot. I tried a bunch of different shots, but I wanted a beautiful detailed moon instead of the glowing blown-out one I got.
I kept...
The morning light was great, but I only had 10 minutes to shoot before work. I walked down a different street than normal and spied this cute little birdhouse as I looked into the sun.
We had some great weather today so I loaded the dogs into the car and took a 5 minute drive to Lake Michigan. There is a lone duck or some other waterbird swimming away from me. This is a 2 shot vertorama yielding this squarish shot. The first shot of the rocks and the second of the water, then...
