Been thinking of adding a lens in this range to my bag. Been reading some on 23 so know the good and bad, but it does sound interesting For days when I just want to walk around town and shoot And not carry my 12-100. Any thoughts on 23 vs 25. Anyone even using 25? Would be using on...
First photos with this lens on my E-M5.2. Inevitably at f1.4...I'll give it a bit more of a test tomorrow but the lens feels like a quality item. Solid metal construction and very smooth aperture and focus rings.
This is the original version of the Autofocus AF-Nikkor 50mm F1.4, came out with the N2020. This one is near mint. Someone must not have liked it, I literally dug it out of a Trash Can almost 30 years ago.
I like it. I used it on the N8008, now use it on the Nikon Df.
Some older shots on the...
Another Ebay purchase. This time MINT! Almost factory condition. I wish I had a D700 for this lens. I think, it would show the character of the lens better than my D90.
This is a nice lens. Not quite up to the Olympus 25mm f1.2 in sharpness, but as near as dammit to matter. What's more, the OOF blur is pretty close so subject isolation is similar.
Here's one wide-open in awful light at ISO 6400:

I've only had a chance to shoot a little around the house. Hoping to get some shooting time in over the holiday weekend. So far, the 18mm 1.4 lives up to all of the hype and praise from the reviews.
Ever the consummate professional model
Of course there had to be chickens
A good old manual focus lens, with nice reputation. Well kept and preserved, it feels like new. Having many Helios 58mm lenses, I'm used to the focal length. On a crop sensor, it just feels right.
It's fast, with 1.4 aperture, which is often challenging with focusing, because my X-E1 doesn't...
Size and weight are nice. It sports a small-ish 52mm filter.
Build feels nice and the metal barrel and hood give it an impression that it cost more or at least that it's worth the sticker.
It has a click-less aperture ring. I can live with it.
AF speed and accuracy seem fine. Sharpness and OOF...
I have a Canon 50mm F1.4 and it is very sharp, good focus. Great up close (has been adjusted by van Maanen Zoetermeer, nl).
Now the close focus distance is 1.00 m. Not very practical, I mean, it leaves a lot to wish for.
Could it be possible to 'hack' this lens and take out a bit of internal...
I had previously purchased this lens with a Fuji mount and have enjoyed some excellent images with it. I recently purchased the same lens but with an L mount. The first copy I received was problematic and I sent it back. The second copy that arrived a couple of days ago works fine on the...
