Hi All,
I just received my refurbished 12mm Olympus f2 from MAP camera today, and want to be sure everything is working ok. Currently, this is my only lens with a focus clutch, and it’s been a while since I had one with a clutch, so maybe someone can enlighten me on a question I have.
During...
I bought the camera for my wife for her birthday. She photographs birds from a distance and plants & insects up close. When either of us try to focus on a spider in its web, all of the surroundings are pretty good, but the camera will not focus on the spider (even when it is absolutely still)...
I am trying to do some focus bracketing with my 90D. What I came up with so far is that it works in principal. But ...
Here is my understanding so far:
For focus bracketing to work you need Live View. In Live View the maximum focus points is with Zone AF - which is roughly a third of the view...
I've been trying out focus bracketing for landscapes with the OM-1 and Olympus 8-25 f4 pro lens but I always seem to end up with a single shot in focus and then a number of shots completely out of focus.
As an example with the number of shots set to 99, the focus differential on 3 and lens on...
All these are taken with the Olympus EM5.3 and 12-40 using focus stacking/bracketing. All are stacked in camera, apart from the rhododendron which was stacked from raws using Photoshop (because the in-camera stacking screwed up!).

Hi again, I can't seem to change my focus point in camera. I have back button autofocus set up [AEL] button. I can move the point with the dials and change the focus point options but it only highlights the center focus point in green when I press the [AEL] button. In Manual mode. Why can't...
New to this camera. Used a manual focus lens the other day, now can't work out how to get back to auto focus.
It's good practise using manual focus with focus peaking, but I might need auto at some stage, and I feel embarrassed that I can't work it out :)
I have been shooting mostly with an Olympus E-M1 ii lately and appear to have lost some of my Panasonic memory. Previously my main camera was a Panasonic G85. I started shooting with it again to refresh my Panasonic skills as I have a G9 on the way. I would have sworn that I had the camera set...
I have an E-M1 ii on the way and while doing a bit of research on said camera I came across the fact that the body has a focus limiting capability.
Quite interesting from a birding perspective [ given the right conditions] and I was wondering if it a really useful feature or just more marketing...
Hi all.
I have a question about the settings when using the focus bracket option on my Lumix G90.
I did ask this over on mu43 and didn't get the answer so it might be an unknown question so apologies for that, but here goes just in case.
There are two settings one for number of shots in the...
Had my first attempt at using focus stacking with my Panasonic G90 this morning. Whilst on a small screen the image IQ appears "alright", on closer inspection it is quite mushy and there's some interesting effects on what should be straight lines. I'm putting this down to not using a tripod...
Hi, I have an Olympus OMD-EM1 mark 1. I bought a Nikon adapter for it. I would like some set up tips for using Nikon glass in manual focus. I made shutter priority on the mode dial set for manual focus with 2 buttons dedicated to focus peaking and the other button for magnify. Is that all I...
I apologise it's taken a little longer than I intended, but as leaked here: Overexposed - The Queen's Wayfarers #1 - now published! I have just released the Queen's Wayfarers Book 2, Sharp Focus for pre-order on Amazon.
To be precise, the ebook version only is available for pre-order. Paperback...
The recent Thread on the AF-Nikkor 28~85 F3.5~F4.5 made me miss my old lens, traded off almost 25 years ago against my first Nikon Rangefinder Kit. That lens was ~$450 in 1991. I have zoom lenses, but not an AF wide~short telephoto. Last Summer vacation- such a lens would have been handy. It's...
Normally when I go out for a stroll with the RX10 MkIV, I set it up in P mode with a central focus rectangle.
Yesterday, while walking at Oakwood Cemetery, the spotter-in-chief points up and says "hawk." (She noticed it because of a shadow traversing the ground; she's uncanny like that.)
I...
I have a Canon 50mm F1.4 and it is very sharp, good focus. Great up close (has been adjusted by van Maanen Zoetermeer, nl).
Now the close focus distance is 1.00 m. Not very practical, I mean, it leaves a lot to wish for.
Could it be possible to 'hack' this lens and take out a bit of internal...
The E-M1 Mk I added focus bracketing with firmware 1.4. After tracking down a video I tried it today.
I used the Pana 20mm f1.7 and used a 22 shot bracket which was about 10 more than I needed. Experiments will continue.
I stacked the shots in Franzis Focus 4 and it did a good job on the...
Hi Folks - A quick question - How do you recenter the focus point on an RX100 V, (or other versions), after having repositioned it for focusing that is not in the middle of the frame? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Here is my review and an image thread we can all add for images taken using the Meike extension tubes.
Macro has always interested me in some ways and turned me off in others.
I liked the ability to get in really close, but normally, you needed to have a dedicated lens to bring along with...
So, I saw these for $25 USD on Amazon and thought, why not.
A 10mm and a 16mm tube and they are stack-able. AF works with both stacked and OIS still functions on lenses that have it. I'll be doing a full review later, but I'm thinking I will be getting my $25 worth out of these.
Got these 3...
I have a Jupiter 8 from 1957. Is not adjusted for Leica but focus at one meter and wide open is very very close. The problem is the lens don't focus properly at infinity. The distance scale is at infinity, but the camera rangefinder is not.
Any advice? Can I easy fix the lens?
Thanks to all!!
By happenstance, a couple of years ago I won a CORFIELD Periflex «Focus Checker» aka «Focus Adapter» for a really good (low) price.
Except the correct nomenclature of the item, the seller was describing the item quite correctly, but nevertheless I was the only bidder, IIRC.
Here some links...
Is it just me, or is it hard to use the focus magnification in the X-U because the magnified portion of the image is simply blown up from the viewfinder, and therefore highly pixelated and without much detail? I think I've been missing focus targets because of this.
And I'm curious, for those...
I was trying to get a good macro shot of the dandelion seeds....the fluffy white bits. I missed. There's a few of their stems that are kind of in focus, but mainly it's a big fluffy soft, out of focus treat.
A successful dandelion macro is being saved in reserve in case I don't get one I...
