Went for a hike around Upper Derwent Reservoir in Derbyshire this morning. Weather was bright but with cloud but with no chance of rain, so I kept the 56/1.2 on for the whole hike - rather than using either the 16 or 90. All processed in Capture One
To be honest I'm not sure how I tripped on this lens. But after using it for a few days I'm very glad I did. This lens retails for $119. and not unlike 7a's 25mm f1.8, ($79.), it seems to offer some very serious image quality for an exceptional price. The build quality appears to be very...

jpegs romanced a bit with Luminar 3.
Working with this camera is (I imagine) a bit like living with a savant. If you try to make it behave like other cameras, you will probably be frustrated and disappointed. There is very little you can actually control and trying to...
My wife surprised me with a trip to Cuba in June. Cuba has always been on my bucket list as a photo destination. I've picked out a backpack, but in trying to pack it lightly for the trip I'm conflicted. I have great gear and I want it ALL to go... stupid of me. So to start, do I go with...
I ran across this over the weekend
Kevin Mullins shared a few of his jpeg settings with the community - I plan to try a few of these out soon myself and wanted to share with those who may not have already seen this. I REALLY wish my X100T had ACROS but it isn't enough to get me into a F, yet...
While I will concede the 16-55 is better in certain areas for me this reaffirms what I have learned. The 18-55 is fantastic as a zoom. Good enough for me..
Following Andrew's Acros example, I thought I'd go ahead and start a CC thread. I took the image I posted in Andrew's Acros thread, and used the in-camera raw software to convert it to CC, bumping up the shadows to +2. Maybe not the best film simulation to try on a gloomy day. What do you think?
I didn't see this specifically, but thought it might be a good idea for us to share.
Since having the MONO dial on the Olympus PEN-F, I've been getting more and more into SOOC JPG processing. My usual workflow is to shoot RAW+F JPG with the "film simulation" of choice. The PEN-F gives you a...
Wife decided to try and catch the sunset at our cross country ski spot, up near Mt Hood. We sorta made it - had to ski FAST to climb a hill to get a view. By then it was all burning red light on the opposite hills, nothing much left. But it was incredibly pretty.
XT1 + Rokinon 12
Been working 6 days a week for 3 weeks so trying to catch up on completing the kit and the last hole got filled I think.Waiting delivery of a 56 f1.2 from FM forums member. Will be sacrificing a 35f2 and 50-230. My kit will now be 12, 16,23,56,90 18-55. I will rent anything else I think. Looking...
....would have a native 50mm f/1.4 lens. And it would be weather resistant somewhat. That's all. Everything else is sweet.
Why wouldn't Fujifilm make an X100 like this as an option, sort of like the Sigma DP Quattros? I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Here's a couple I took just now. I picked up some LR presets from Serge Ramelli which seemed to suit these shots. Taken on my X-E2 btw.

My friend sold me his black X-E2 and I fell in love with it. Then came the X-Pro2 and my love for Fuji grew. A few key lenses and I was really happy with my new direction with Fuji. But then... I saw SILVER! I found a NOS silver X-E2 on eBay and is arrived today. I've not had an XC lens yet, but...
Ok. I've bought a new Olympus OMD EM5 mk2 + 12-40 f2.8.
Almost lost the plot with the menu/set up in the first couple of hours.
It's still giving me grief after 36 hours.
I am getting there though.
I am getting to like it.
The 12-40 f2.8 is a fantastic lens.
I reckon another 24 hours fiddling...
I stil have a Fuji XQ1 I sometimes take with me when we are out for a walk or snowshoeing. 'Still makes very nice images, acknowledging the sensor size, etc. Super nasty weather in northern Vermont today with heavy snows still falling from last night. 'Just playing around with undoubtedly the...
I believe there's plenty to be shot at longer focal lengths. Fuji may not have the 'perfect' 70-200 (lightweight, compact, sharp) that M4/3 system has but it's got plenty of good primes that should be more than excellent.
For example, the 60/2.4 macro that everybody ignores? I hear it works...
Not as big/heavy as I thought it would be
Super sharp (even at f2)
Close focus is better than I expected (should have known this from reading the specs)
I think that my core kitbag is going to be 16, 90, 56 in that order. I'm struggling to see what other lens I might...
Yesterday I happened to browse the showcases for 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 and the Mitakon Speedmaster 35/0.95. Both are to my surprise usably sharp wide open, and overall look like stellar performers! Portrait options won't end any time soon as there's this huge wealth of 50-58 mm lenses ready to be...
My XF 16-55 f/2.8 has arrived for my brand- new X-H1. No doubt this lens will spend a lot of time on this body. I also have the 35mm f/1.4 and will probably get the 23mm f/1.4 at some point. The jury is still out on whether I will bother with the 50-140mm f/2.8.
My question: Should I go for...
...does the sale on the 56/1.4 signal a new version (maybe with OIS) is coming?
Nikon has tells about when new cameras/lenses are about drop, does Fujifilm?
I'm an old guy, OIS in that lens would be nice...
As I was leaving this morning to shoot a lacrosse scrimmage my son was playing in, I decided to NOT take my Sony A9 and 100-400GM, and instead try out my new XPRO2 and 55-200XF. I have to say I was amazed at the ease of use and the quality of the files! These are jpgs with a touch of crop and...
Fujifilm is expected to make a few announcements within the next 30 days, if they keep their old schedules.
What do you hope/expect of them to announce?
I expect them to announce the successor for X100F with not many changes to it. What I hope (because of possible GAS, even though I avoided...
I recently acquired a used Fuji XT 20 in very good condition and I am very pleased with the results that I get, however, when I change the battery it loses all my settings. If I charge the battery in camera through the USB port, I have no problem. This is all well and good if you are at home or...
But I need a 50-140 to complete my kit. Gonna have to stick to my guns on this one. I love my 35 and my 90 but they may go to make room for this. Later the 18-55 will go to make room for the 16-55. Keeping all my wides. 16 , 23 and Rokinon 12
Storm clouds over Troy, NY, taken back at the end of June, from the car . . . I started fussing with these images with Luminar 3.
I am not much impressed with the XP90, but Luminar helps some.
The title says it all. If you've been interested in this camera, now is the time to pull the trigger:

Via Fuji Rumors:
Fuji 56mm f1.2 Full Frame?
Not bad at all. Focus is tough enough manually, but he seemed to cope okay. It must be nice to have access to someone skilled enough to DIY change mounts. I can imagine some of the fun one could have with all sorts of adapted glass.
Simple question. I'm looking at a half case for the X-E3 and debating between some of the cheaper PU cases and the Gariz leather. But I've also considered something like the Meike MK-XE3G grip.
So what do you use? Brand and link if you have them.
Posting this as comparison for anyone debating between these two lenses. Or anyone who has the 90mm, but is considering the 50-140 for the extra reach and versatility.
I have a loaner 90mm f2 and recently used it on a shoot at a local venue. In 2017 I shot at the same venue with a 50-140. So I...
(Used the 35 f1.4 and the 56 1.2)
A very dear friend started a business, and I offered to help with shots. Lo and behold, he texted 2 days ago and asked if I could shoot headshots last night at 4. He needed 3 people and 1 group shot. Given that it was solid rain, and the sun sets around 5...
