  9. SIJ - Day 31

    SIJ - Day 31

Did someone say "selfie?" I figured I would do one with one of my favorite subjects for the month.
  10. SIJ - Day 31

    SIJ - Day 31

With billions of people on earth we all want to leave behind a foot print. A foot print to be remembered, our "15 minutes of fame". Also this is a foot print for each and every photographer who participated in this SIJ project. I have seen remarkable photographs and people getting...

    SIJ - Day 26

I got lived the last few days of this week. Deadlines, pressure, and new uncertainties.
  18. SIJ - Day 25

    SIJ - Day 25

I saw another shrine for a young man died. This is part of a long and still on-going project.
  19. SIJ - Day 24

    SIJ - Day 24

Strange what people leave behind at the most unusual places.
  20. SIJ - Day 23

    SIJ - Day 23

I have something with lonesomeness. And especially people waiting alone.
  21. SIJ - Day 22

    SIJ - Day 22

While photographing felt normal and subconscious, editing at the end of the week just didn't.
  22. SIJ - Day 28

    SIJ - Day 28

Dereliction Too much prettiness in the SIJ. Time to get a little dirty. This is a derelict property very close to where we live. In its heyday it must have been a gorgeous piece of property.

    SIJ - Day 23

Guard house at Caguas Botanical Gardens. The night guard was actually quite perplexed at the sight of a guy wearing a tie (came straight from work) pulling a camera, tripod and flashlight in the darkness to take a photograph. Didn't dare asking him to pose for fear he would ask me to leave...

    SIJ - Day 22

Time Still feeling lousy, so I figured I would take care of today's shot early and put it out of mind. Shot through a Canon TX body and 50mm 1.8nFD.
  29. SIJ - Day 21

    SIJ - Day 21

Like many at the Northern Hemisphere winter is playing tricks with lots of rain and moderate temperatures. Best way to escape and to stay dry is to travel by car.

    SIJ - Day 21

Zulma Still feeling under the weather, so my wife suggested a portrait at home. Again, two Canon 580EXIIs fired from my Lumix G3 with an ST-E2 transmitter. Not insignificant amount of post processing.
  31. SIJ - Day 20

    SIJ - Day 20

Feeling very much under the weather, this is all I can do without getting out of bed.
  32. SIJ - Day 20

    SIJ - Day 20

This week I learned that life can be full of obstruction, but thankfully also possibilities. I was finally able to caught up with posting my daily photographs.
  33. SIJ - Day 19

    SIJ - Day 19

After the disappointment of the day before I am trying to find out how I can bend my feelings into something creative. This is me....
  34. SIJ - Day 18

    SIJ - Day 18

I have had back pain problems for so long and had several pain treatments. I had high hopes a surgery could ease the pain, but on Wednesday I learned a surgery made no sense. I simply have to life and not to deal with it.
  35. SIJ - Day 17

    SIJ - Day 17

With the days counting worries set in again. Life is sometimes like a roller coaster.
  36. SIJ - Day 16

    SIJ - Day 16

After the hope of the previous week and the worries and pain of last weekend, all we need is a bit of love.
  37. SIJ - Day 19

    SIJ - Day 19

El corillo de Caguas (The Crew from Caguas) As I went on my nightly sojourn desperately looking for photo ops in the darkness, I came across this happy bunch. They were thrilled to pose. A very long exposure and another bit of light painting.

    SIJ - Day 16

El amor del gíbaro II (The Peasant's Love II) This is a photograph of a mural (graffitti?) in Caguas which I had photographed before, but during the daytime. I used a 15 second shutter speed and light painted over the woman with a flashlight while the shutter was open.

Puerto Rican painter, sculptor and performance artist Oscar Mestey-Villamil As I may have mentioned before, I do some pro bono photography work for the Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art. Mr. Mestey-Villamil has an exhibit that is opening at the Museum on the last week in January. I...

    SIJ - Day 14

After a busy week and pitching an entire day on new thoughts and ideas, I used the Saturday for some portraits and working on my last year's portfolio.
  45. SIJ - Day 13

    SIJ - Day 13

Once again, before I knew it, it was 7pm with no photo to show for the day. Rather than look for another night scene, I decided to show you the third member of the Ramirez household, my son Antonio. The photo was lit using two Canon 580EXII flash units, stand mounted, one at camera left with...

    SIJ - Day 11

The direction, this road, goes straight ahead. The fog of the day before disappeared and a small hill can be seen at the horizon. These are merely the Dutch Mountains.

    SIJ - Day 10

The Girl Without Hands - After the Wedding In early 2011, I did a series of four photos that I titled "La boda de la niña sin manos" (The Wedding of the Girl Without Hands). The photos were of an interesting looking wedding shop in Caguas. Unfortunately, the shop closed down, and...
