Noticed some of these going cheap on Evilbay.
Anyone tried one? Any good? Or are they garbage?
I read that they are similar to the Laowa 15mm f4 Macros but without the Shift capability.
A Lens's maximum reproduction ratio is one thing that is easily measured and somewhat easily understood, yet many mix sensor crop factors in! Why, WHY?! :confused-95:
A 1:1 reproduction makes a half-an-inch ant measure exactly 1/2 inches after the picture goes through the lens to the image...
I've just got this lens so these are very initial comments. Firstly, wow, it's a solid, heavy beast of a lens. It must be milled from solid adamantine, I reckon.
Here it is next to the 35-100 (admittedly tiny) lens that came at the same time.
Second comment - as you move the focussing ring, it...
It's been a while. I got this small softbox and had some fun with it with some Star Trek ships laying around

Well, I had some time today and broke out some of the Star Wars ships and other stuff. A6400 and 50mm...
Here are some images taken with the CL and a Canon 50mm f3.5 Macro FD. None are cropped. Nice cheap alternative for macro with the CL.
BTW, does anyone know what that first token with the angel might be for?
Here are some images taken with the CL and a Canon 50mm f3.5 Macro FD. None are cropped. Nice cheap alternative for macro with the CL. The proof set of coins are encased in a plastic box. I shot em through the plastic. the token/medallion and the other coins were captured without plastic or...
So, I looked around in the lens cubicle and saw this old adapted lens... A Canon 50mm FD Macro and decided to play with it a bit... Here are a few shots taken with it and some shots taken of it. The images of the set up were taken with the CL and a M 50mm Summilux, love that lens...
Anyway, one...
So I recently bought this foldable softbox and finally got to mess around with it (thoughts at the end) with some of my Star Trek models.

Curious if anyone has had experience shooting macro with the Olympus TG-5 'Tough' compact camera? I miss the outstanding macro from my ancient LX7 (one of the nicer things about that camera) - and from what I hear, the TG-5 has a microscope mode which focuses down as close as something like 1...
The past few weeks have been spent cleaning out old storage areas and accumulated photography items from the past 40 or so years. I sold off some 4X5 systems, some duplicate lenses, and some stuff that I didn't think anyone wanted - but somebody did!
I've invested the proceeds in building a...
Bored this morning and started taking pictures of my light up Starship Enterprise. I really need to get a lightbox, but these turned out decent enough using ambient light.

The Golden Shower tree I've been revisiting for the SiJ has a lot of new growth so I took a fresh photo in IR.
Converted in PS and local contrast enhanced in Perfect Effects 8 to modify the pale foliage.
I mentioned revisiting this tree on Day One and this is the first new leaves and bud. R and B channels inverted in PS and local contrast boosted with ALCE.
The brighter new leaves is, I suspect, due to less IR absorption as a protective measure.
Blue agapanthus flower with visitor. Tried the macro setting on the G5. Converted in Photoshop and Perfectly clear. Optical VF and LCD useless so 'point and pray'.
I put the X100 in macro mode and clicked a few off blindly.....it was so bright I could hardly even see the screen. This was the best of them, but it's not easy getting this close to the bee while walking the dogs.
Took this on my kitchen table. Just wanted see how sharp this camera is. Was not in "macro" mode, just used manual focus and flash. Some sharpening done in pp.
