Straight off the bat the huge size, weight, price, my personal preference for 28mm/50mm primes as a first resort doesn't make it my cup of tea but it does seem to be unbeatabley supreme optically, particularly with today's mirrorless...
Hi All !
I just made a test : import .NEF into NX Studio, export as .TIFF (16 bits), import in Nitro for post processing.
.TIFF files are way better (sharpness, color rendering, white balance) then .NEF files rendered in Nitro.
Might be because NX Studio is Nikon's proprietary software. Might...
Anyone have any experience with this relatively new lens. It appears to be the companies first full frame AF lens venture, and appears to have some positive reviews. Just curious if anyone here has tried it, or has sample images. Looks like it’s also made for E-mount. All metal, with AF, a...
I can't afford the latest and greatest cameras today but I can still enjoy my photography with the gear I have, a Sony HX60, a Lumix FZ330, a recently purchased Samsung NX10 and lastly my Nikon P7000 which is my oldest camera now with it's CCD sensor and super sharp 28-200mm lens. Its still a...
Asking for a friend who's lost the key to his CT-608 case. Nikon say the key is universal but they can't provide one. Does anyone have a spare going please?
Say you have a D7000 w/18-200 lens and want to take pictures of a butterfly on flower against a background of greenery.
Which lens would you rather receive as a Christmas present, 1) A Nikkor 50 1.2 AiS or 2) A Series E 100mm lens?
Today while at the flea market, taking my first image I got an error message "Camera cannot communicate with the SD Card. Remove it and replace it with another SD card" or words to that effect.
I took it out, wiped it on my T-shirt and replaced it and thank goodness, it worked.
When I got...

Hi
I've had a D90 for some time now and enjoy using it, albeit not to its full potential, but I'm lazy like that, but recently I thought I would experiment and change the aspect ratio, only to find there is no setting in the menu for this, unlike my Lumix G2, am I missing something here, or...
I've been shooting in VERY poor light conditions with my Z6ii at high ISO's and have crazy many dead pixels.
Is this 'within spec'? Some are red, some are green - does that mean anything different? or are the all equally dead
https://petapixel.com/2024/10/02/new-versions-of-voigtlanders-apo-lanthar-35mm-and-50mm-lenses-coming-to-z-mount/
May be considered minor by many, but I'm glad to see Voigtländer not giving up on Z mount but doubling down!
Now come on, Cosina, give us the 27mm f/2 in Z mount, too ...

Hi All!
New member here. I've had my Z50 for about a year now and wanted to check the shutter count, but when I upload an image to one of the shutter count Web sites, it says no data available for the shutter count. All of the other EXIF data is there, but not shutter count.
Is there...
So finally it seems we have the Z50 II upcoming.
On a familiar rumor site he lists these details as of now:
Updated body design
Expeed 7
Flippy screen like the Z6 III
USB-C
Will use the same Nikon EN-EL25 battery
Official announcement: soon (before the end of 2024)...
I bought the camera for my wife for her birthday. She photographs birds from a distance and plants & insects up close. When either of us try to focus on a spider in its web, all of the surroundings are pretty good, but the camera will not focus on the spider (even when it is absolutely still)...
For the last while I've noticed that the Evaluative Metering dial knob has stopped working correctly.
It no longer clicks through the settings, but swings around without engaging.
Has anybody else had the same issue? I've taken it in to the shop I bought it from, but Nikon has no...
Not bad but I think mine might be a little faulty, I got a line/dark-band through some shots, maybe a sticky shutter?
Nice camera to have to demonstrate the evolution of camera design but I think I'll leave mine on the shelf. My F100 is definitely the better general use AF film Nikon in all...
I find it surprising that this old magnificent meat mallet didn't already have a thread. Anyhow, I've been enjoying mine, especially the way it's been put together. Optically it's still quite good, though not without it's flaws. Some purple fringing can present itself at times, and the smoothest...
My starting point for development of raw files in Lightroom is usually the Auto button, and then I tweak the results to get something that pleases me. It usually does a pretty good job (if a little too fond of extra vibrance). But with the raw files from the Z 50, the auto button produces...
Hey all!
I've been using these now for a little bit and from the get go - I actually love both of them.
Having had heartburn with EVF/OVF-less cameras in the past, I've slowly started to get past that personal problem (same with power zooms, especially since I've embraced the stepped zoom)...
If you've been at al following any of my threads you'll know that I've been experimenting with older compact cameras here lately.
Having used the Nikon Coolpix A, the P7800, and now the Ricoh GR Digital III....my thoughts fall back on the abandoned idea by Nikon of the DL series. There is a...
Since I appear to be the only one intrigued by this move by Nikon, I'll just say here that I find the announcement of this lens pretty fascinating.
https://petapixel.com/2024/06/25/nikon-bucks-expectations-and-launches-z-35mm-f-1-4-lens-for-600/
This is a lens that, in terms of the concept it...
I'm looking into manual 50mm lenses, just to complete my current setup of 28mm, and 35mm.
I already have a Nikon AIS 50mm 1.4, which I adapted, but the result is too bulky. To my knowledge, the only small adapters are the Leica ones.
So, I love Voigtländer Leica M lenses for their cost/quality...
Ok, so it finally was announced, here is a link to the trailer:

I have a Nikon 17-35 2.8 that is having a focus motor issue. If anyone wants to deal with it send me you address and it will be mailed to you. I do not have the desire to dive into another lens. MPB told me the focus ring was broken. I think it is more serious than that. Thanks...
Just curious.
I occasionally see good prices on Voigtlander LTM wides - the 15mm f4.5 Heliar for example. I can see adapters to Z mount but curious to see or hear of peoples experiences with these smaller lenses on Z bodies.
I see a couple of manufacturers make native Z mount ultra-wides but...
Stuck it in my jacket pocket this morning to catch some shots going to work in the morning and back home again.

This lens requires a bit of physical strength, in order to carry it all day. No wonder there is a big tripod collar on the lens. It's there for a reason.
Second thing I noticed when shooting with the lens was the minimum focus distance of 4 meters. No macro stuff with this one...
I've had the Z 50 for 2 weeks or so now and I think I made the right choice. However it has a couple of quirks that are annoying me and I don't know whether they are down to user error.
1 - I have energy saving disabled, but the screen and viewfinder both go dim after about 2 or 3 seconds...

This is a relatively new lens in Nikon's Z lineup and one of three rebranded Tamron lenses.
This is a bargain lightweight alternative to the more elite Z70-200 f/2.8, but 'bang for buck' it delivers very acceptable results.
I am starting this thread to provide a space to serve as a gallery for...
Looks like it would be a good all-in-one lens for day trips or travel. Personally quite interested, as I seem to need/want a 3 lens kit - a fast telephoto for wildlife, a wide fast prime for indoors, and a superzoom for day to day shooting. Currently get the most use out of my Panasonic 14-140ii...

I guess technically Nikon has now paid for those patents Red said they violated. 🤑 I’ll be really curious to see how much of Red’s video tech makes it into a Nikon “hybrid”.

I really do wonder sometimes whether the new lenses like this as well as the 50 F1 are better suited to Nikon Z rather than the rangefinder.
https://nikonrumors.com/2024/02/20/new-voigtlander-nokton-75mm-f-1-5-aspherical-lens-for-nikon-z-mount-announced.aspx/amp/
I’m saddened to say that as a loyal follower of the F mount from my film days and Nikon D300/Df that I am finding it increasingly difficult to find articles of interest about them. Most of the forums feature the mirrorless format which is the new baby on the block. Whilst I don’t blame...
Wanted to drop some sweet, sweet pics from the first outing with this lens and some initial thoughts.
Thoughts:
I love the size of the lens. 20mm and FX coverage - YES!
The focus ring is large and easily bumped depending on how you hold the camera...so be aware of this. Luckily, I have...
Was out birding today with my Nikon D810 and Sigma 100-600mm G2. Have no idea what I hit or if I hit anything, but when I got home and took a look at what I shot, it looked like I some how did something that was causing a "bracketing" effect when shooting in Quiet Continuous. I had a ten shot...
