The steeple of the church in Slapton with (in early January) noisy pairs of Jackdaws claiming nesting sites behind the slatted openings.

On the right hand side of the church steps in Slapton is Lych gate cottage, this being the entrance to it.

These steps ascend to the lych gate of the church in Slapton being at the end of "Church Steps" lane.

This lane leads to the lych entrance to the church which is reached by a flight of steps, hence the name.
