    Riding bicycles

I put over 2500 of the 4000+ miles I rode last year on this Schwinn. I built it up from cast-off and junk parts people gave me and which I found. I wanted something simple to ride with a coaster brake as I used when I was a kid back in the 60s/early 70s. I am having a wonderful time with it.

Metering over exposes Z-system with vintage lens

Yesterday I affixed my old Nikon AF NIKKOR 20mm f/2.8D via the FTZ adaptor to my Z6ii. I understand it's manual focusing only, which is fine - but even so, focusing (without enlarging) was very challenging. I've got red focus peaking on and when zoomed in, the focusing works much better (to be...

Manual Lens f1.2; Adapted vintage or New Tech?

Let's get this out of the way: I suffer from LBA (Lens Buying Affliction, in case I buggered up the acronym...). I can find something to appreciate from most any lens, and will shoot at least once with almost anything. I have a real affinity for the giant glass that shows off from old...

Film Possible Vintage Film Camera ID?

(Mods - if this is the wrong place, move it if you need to or lock it and please point me where to repost.) As I continue the scanning project, I've run across a couple of images pointing me in the general direction of what my Dad has as a camera in the '50s and '60s. Looks like it was a...

    Nikon Nikkormat FTn & Nikkors

Iā€™ve been working on the meter on my early 70ā€™s black paint Nikkormat FTn. After the latest round of work I took it out with a roll of Ilford XP2 Super loaded to test it. Still needs a little more work but itā€™s getting there. I used my 50/1.4 & 105/2.5.

    Documentary Vintage Rally

Gorgeous spring day today, there was a Vintage Rally on down on the peninsula that one of the blokes from work told me was on. Fabulous day out. Interesting machinery, & interesting people to converse with. Thoroughly enjoyable day. I'll add to the thread, as I finish editing shots, the...

Nikon Showcase AI, AI-S, and AI-P Lenses

Didnā€™t see a thread for the lovely vintage Nikon (and more modern Voigtlander) glass we have in F mount! Was testing a 105mm f/2.5 AI-S this evening and loved how beautiful the rendering was. I shouldnā€™t have been surprised, but I figured Iā€™d make a thread and see what vintage examples others...

Sony The 35mm FF experiment for Vintage lenses

Heuou, again, I have been itching to retry my experiment with 35mm FF. Last year I bought (well more of traded in for) a Sony a7C as a one stop shop for family and portraits and a way to dip my toes in adapting vintage lenses (I love shooting with manual focus and I love interesting and...

Street 14th Kingsbridge Vintage Bus Running Day (Image Heavy)

There was no 13th bus running day in 2020 for obvious reasons. It would have been the 60th anniversary of the introduction of the small Bristol SU single decker bus that was the mainstay of the rural bus services in this area during the 1960's and 1970's so that celebration was delayed until...

Philosophy Found an Interview with working Pro using vintage compacts

Hi guys. was just browsing the net (like you do) & stumbled across this interview.. https://www.dpreview.com/interviews/5683481585/sofi-lee-on-digital-nostalgia quite liked the concept :) although it's very "niche", i can't imagine there would be a lot of mainstream demand..

Stroll Random Strolls with resurrected vintage compacts FEEL FREE TO ADD YOUR OWN IMAGES

As suggested in the watering hole as something to do while exercising during the Covid lockdown, just to make things a bit more interesting. After doing a desk job for a decade i've barely walked more than a few hundred metres a day in that time so i've been using the extra time in the long...

2019 Kingsbridge Vintage Bus Running Day

This is the 12th year of the rally that replicates the old bus routes that used to serve many of the outlying villages in the South Hams centred on Kingsbridge. This is a small selection of the many photographs taken on the day. This AEC Regent was new to Devon General in 1957. I only...

Leica How to properly clean a vintage lens?

I know that the best is not to clean them, but how to clean an old lens when we have fingerprints and the glass or the coating is very soft? Summar, Summitar, Jupiters... I use a cotton swab with some cleaning fluid for lenses, but I do not know if it is the best option.

Sigma The Sigma 15-30mm EX DG Lens - Revisiting modern vintage glass!

Lately I've been researching all the various wide angle lenses you can get for a modern DSLR. After shooting mirrorless for awhile and witnessing the smallness and simplicity of compact M-mount wide angle glass, especially the Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Heliar lens, I've been searching for a DSLR...
