is there anything special about this lens when compared against G MASTER 1.4 35 MM SONY
1. GM Is sharper than Zeiss
2. GM has more saturated image and richer color
3. contrast i dont know perhaps ZEISS
4. Zeiss must be on the good on character.
sharpness is not something we can let go...
I think I have things sorted with this kit, so will be shooting exclusively with it for this week and with the Zeiss pair of lenses.
I'm also experimenting with the in camera JPG settings so shooting DNG+JPG - and this week will sick with the B&W settings for that as well.
A bit of cross...
Well, if youāve been to the Stasi Museum in Berlin, youāll be aware of this, but for those that havenāt, this is Special Lens SO - 2.2 B for taking covert photographs at night and under poor lighting conditions. To quote:
āCarl Zeiss Jena began developing the special lens on behalf of the...
Well, that didn't take long...

All of the sale prices that just expired are back. And the A9II and the A7sIII still aren't on sale. But if anyone has regretted not jumping on any...
Hard to believe that some sellers of Russian lenses in Fed/Zorki Mount continue to give bad information that they can be used on a Leica standard camera, that the Russian lenses were made to the Leica 51.6mm standard.
THEY ARE NOT, How do I know? Because I have the Data Sheets that came with...
The Sonnar series of lenses evolved fairly rapidly in the 1930s. Every year seemed to bring a change in the mechanical construction, materials used, and optical formula. In 1935 Zeiss brought in the equipment to apply coatings to optics. By 1938 coated lenses were marked with a "T" for...
So I went out for a walk today with the CL and the Zeiss Biogon 35mm f2.8, I took the monopod but foolishly did not use it. I think for some reason the CL with adapted M mount lenses is just not easy to hold steady... Or maybe I'm expecting too much. I only shot a few images and decided to go...
The F1.5 Sonnar is amazing, 7 elements in 3 groups. This uncoated lens has near perfect glass with a nice bloom on it. The glass on the F1.5 lens is more durable than that of the F2. It is common to find the F1.5 lens with glass that cleans up nicely. The F2 lens- glass is softer, much like the...
I have a Carl Zeiss Jena 58mm f2 Biotar in M42 mount that I use with my Sony A7II and I'm very happy with the images.
So a couple of weeks ago, I saw a 1950's Pentacon SLR on eBay, with a "CZ" lens that looked exactly like my Biotar. The description was lousy and the photos on eBay were poor...
I have a chance to acquire one of these at about $100US. I've heard of the good quality of Zeiss Ikonta cameras. The seller assures me he's run several rolls of film (120?) through it and gotten good results.
Would you go for this camera? I must note that I already have some medium format...
Just arrived!
Took a chance on what was described as badly scratched lens only to find a few whispy cleaning marks. I love it when sellers over emphasize the flaws! Only real bummer was the dent in the filter ring.
And now for some pics!
I guess many of you have experience that it's quite awkward when you have an SLR-lens to LTM/Leica-M body adapter where both the lens and the adapter are LACKING an aperture-stopdown device.
My example are the ZEISS West lenses for the Icarex TM (or Zeiss Ikon SL706) ā one cannot lock the...
Hello, I have a wartime CZJ Sonnar 5cm f1,5 in Leica Thread Mount serial # 2870001 which seems to date it approx. from 1942. I need advice on how to unscrew the optic module to check for matching serial numbers and perhaps determine it's authenticity. I am loathe to dismantle/damage the lens due...
Not much happening this morning - miserable day - misty and the morning temperature has increased from zero to 7 C degrees from yesterday.
Done my duty for today - photographically speaking, that is!!!
Frosty today - minus 3 C here at mid-day and looks like it will stay like that most of the day - amazing that we still have roses in bloom.
now the M8 plus a 28mm cannot really do close ups as the minimum focus distance is up to a meter - and this shot is right on the limit -then a big crop...
got my feet up this evening so I've taken a few shots inside in artificial light which always reveal study areas.
Never quite sure which to go for - square the horizontals or try to keep the verticals as vertical as possible and try to fix converging verticals. -
Tripod used
changed image...
as instructed I paid a visit to the doctors in the local village - to get my toes checked - Basically - soak them in alcohol, (wrap a bandage around them loosely and keep it damp with alcohol), painkillers, plus some other pills - then an Xray, (Radio in France), tomorrow.
Managed to get a...
Mixed day weatherwise - bright periods but mostly fine rain coming from the west - the image is looking NW taken from our back garden which rises steeply in parts
there is a large field at the bottom of our valley - we live up there on the top of the hill - all the local springs and streams flow into a very small river which we call "the mighty Dureze"(the river is on the first tree line) - anyway most of the year this "large field"...
Must be quite historic as it is next to a very old, but crumbling, Chateaux.
But like lots of rural French property it has been left to decay, usually because of French property law.
Not sure if there is a refurb job planned but the front door and surround is very impressive
front door is...
