Second whack at a Cohoes Falls video with the RX10 IV

Different video editor, differing editing, different music. Luke, you can probably ID the music -- no cheating with one of those auto-apps! Better, maybe? Cheers, Jock

Sigma The Sigma 15-30mm EX DG Lens - Revisiting modern vintage glass!

Lately I've been researching all the various wide angle lenses you can get for a modern DSLR. After shooting mirrorless for awhile and witnessing the smallness and simplicity of compact M-mount wide angle glass, especially the Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 Heliar lens, I've been searching for a DSLR...

    Weird bird pix

Not all birds-in-flight shots work out. Direct quote from the spotter-in-chief: "These are beautiful, graceful creatures . . . what have you done!?!" Cheers, Jock

    RX10 IV initial impressions – long . . . you’ve been warned!

For years now, I’ve had a mad, passionate love affair with superzoom cameras. I argue that they are, quite simply, the most versatile cameras on the planet: they will deliver 20-something millimeter equivalent wide angle views when you need them and yet, without changing lenses, draw you close...

Visited the eagles again . . . under leaden skies

(added later) Just for perspective, here is where I was shooting from: The eagles nest is in the trees, dead-center, the big dark blob about one-third down from the top of the frame. I estimate the distance at about 75 yards. Cheers, Jock

Lessons learned: eagles, superzoom, lighting, and Luminar

The better half (aka spotter-in-chief) and I decided to check on the nesting eagles on Peebles Island yesterday evening. Immediately we discovered that the nest was backlit . . . definitely not as good as the other day Superzoom strikes again . . . eagles . . . and some crazy duck (goose?)...

    Superzoom sky

Okay, I'll admit it; I am an unrepentant, not-in-the-12-step-program sky junkie. A few minutes ago my better half (aka, the spotter-in-chief) said, "Look at that sky!" 'Nuff said. Cheers, Jock
  25. Jock Elliott

    Superzoom strikes again . . . eagles . . . and some crazy duck (goose?) photos . . .

Peebles Island today. Bald eagles on the nest. Papa showed up: cropped: cropped: stopped by a wildlife viewing area in Brunswick, NY: And what is going on in these duck (goose?) photos? Cheers, Jock

    Sony Good day all.

Good day all. Proudly owner of RX1003. I am just a less than beginner in photography and my question will sound naive. When making shot from close, still not macro, the center is focused and around is blury. What to do to have it all sharp and "focused". For now, "intelligent" looks the best...
