This relatively ancient Boeing airplane, built in 1952 and dubbed 'the Flying Ambulance', was used alternately as a troop transport vehicle, a cargo carrier, and a flying hospital, for both wounded soldiers and casualties. I'm fairly ignorant about aviation history but seeing it - like an ancient, hulking, landbound mechanical dinosaur, in the spot where it now sits permanently outside the Medford, Oregon airport - made me turn around and drive back for a closer look. It is walled off behind protective fencing, but I happened to have my E-P5 with me, so...
