So let’s chat. What are your photographic resolutions for next year? GAS related?

Personally? I would like to shoot more film. I only had 1 roll developed in 2023. I would like to develop 1 roll per month in 2024.

Also, I need to set some more stringent GAS restrictions. TBD here; as I look to define something that’s reasonable and attainable.

Well thanks but our family goals are literally just getting through this year. My husband has been diagnosed with cancer and it's a rollercoaster.
I'm his designated driver to the (frequent) hospital visits and that's a 65km roundtrip each time, leaving little time for personal creativity - especially hanging around the not very uplifting oncology ward.

A used Pentax 645D is always at the back of my mind, maybe 2024 is the year for that? A CCD 40mp medium format sensored camera and plethora of affordable lenses on the used market definitely speaks to me, especially if the prices keep dropping as they seem to have been over the past year and 14 year old technology doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I’m so sorry to hear that Irene! Hang in there…both of you. Let’s look back on 2024 as the year your husband beat cancer!

No resolutions, just taking it a day at a time with a focus on making the most of every moment. While 2023 had its positives, it was a rough year for me and my family. My wife had a quad coronary bypass in December 2022, then no sooner was she out of the hospital than my mom had a severe heart attack on Christmas Eve, and both ladies had a rough going to start the year. In February our cherished little dog had a tumor removed, which was identified as malignant with a not hopeful prognosis. Although the vet was cautiously hopeful, it metastasized to other organs and we lost him on July 31. Then my mom succumbed to lingering heart problems barely a month later, and in late Autumn, my wife and I both contracted Covid. I try to focus on those things in the year that were uplifting, but I am glad to see 2023 in the rear view mirror (even though it is just a number on a man-made calendar).

I am going to have a slow start to the year, as I had knee surgery on the 29th. My hopes, though, are that this will cure the lingering knee pain I have had for a few years and I will be back to hiking the Smokies more and maybe longer treks.

Otherwise, I am looking to have another gallery show. Or at the very least some competition shows again this year. It is really satisfying to see your work hanging in a gallery.

I have decided that along with what ever other shooting I do, with whatever other cameras and lenses, I use, I am going to try to take at least one photo a day this year with my Leica M 240 using my Voigtlander 50/1.5 Nokton. It's a good quality versatile lens and I'm more interested in the discipline of forcing myself to shoot daily. I expect to continue to use all the other cameras and so forth but to use that one as a "no excuses" daily driver.

I picked up a Hasselblad H3DII with a Kodak CCD sensor and I think it is great.

Resolutions?
Need to finish a photo book before end of March
Need to create more images and more research on another book.

Maybe get rid of some kit and trade some kit for other kit
