My weekly triptych

How quickly someone can get used to a challenge like 'Single in' is clear to me today. Today I can and may, but I don't have to invent and photograph anything. After delivering a photo every day for a month, this suddenly seems very strange.
While shopping I thought it would be good for me to come up with something that keeps the 'flow' going, but not so much the pressure to come up with a result every day. Something interesting and fun that I can think about all week, with enough time to take pictures and edit the results on the computer, without falling into the theme of 'one photo every day' which is not going to work for me, simply because I've already tried something like this in recent years.

I understand a next edition of the 'Single in' challenge is planned for September 2023, so with my weekly triptych challenge I can bridge these 6 months nicely. For my weekly triptych, I don't give myself any restrictions, except that each triptych must consist of 3 square photos placed next to each other, either in color or black and white.

It's an assignment to myself for the next 6 months and a great opportunity, just like in the 'Single in' challenge, to try out my cameras and lenses, filters and flashes etc., but also all kinds of styles, tricks and editing programs. It's the intention to place all triptych versions (about 27 pieces in my opinion) in this single thread so as not to flood and burden the forum, whereby a consecutive numbering and the correct week number will be placed in the title each time, starting with number 1 and week 9 - 2023

In order not to make this announcement a mere mass of words, I'm enclosing a triptych (just for fun) I made in late 1978 with a Polaroid SX70 camera I had just bought, at the time I was studying to become a professional photographer, working in the photo trade and was immediately hooked on this instant photo system. I still have the camera and everything still works.

This is a really cool idea. A small weekly project of sorts.
Thanks, the 'Single in' challenge is fun to do for a whole month, but delivering a photo every day (like in the today series) doesn't have my interest after working as a commercial photographer/designer for 30 years. The idea of working on a triptych at my leisure every week makes everything a bit more relaxed, I can think of subjects and try things out, so something like this really suits me much better these days!

By the way, why don't you do something like this yourself, for example with triptychs, and set up your own thread for it, if you don't succeed for a week then no one will look at you. What you could also do is give yourself a theme every week and then make it a 26 or 52 week challenge, you don't have to limit yourself to just 1 photo and it really ensures that you are actively photographing.

I'm definitely thinking on it. I just finished a year plus long part scavenger hunt / part photo project. It was fun and it kept me going. I need to think of, or stumble onto something new now.

Triptych 2 | week 10

I've been busy all week with a strong flu on top of problems with my back, everything is not over yet and that's why I'm going to keep messing around in the house for a few more days. Little time or inclination to make a triptych, but with some help from my wife who came over with a pack of small batteries and reminded me of the box full of refillable 35mm film cartridges that I picked up for next to nothing a few weeks ago, the basis for a new triptych was quickly laid. The Yashica p&s film camera is still a very nice little camera with a very good lens that I've actually used far too little, the camera has been in the closet in the original box for almost 20 years. At the end of last year I put a new battery in and it still works perfectly, the flash works and soon I hope to develop the film inside, see if there is any light leakage.
