^ what did you do to get the galaxy-like flare spot?
It isn't a flare, it's really there and is a gas cloud with quite a few stars in it. You can see it with the naked eye from places with dark skies. It's called the Orion Nebula. Sabin's photo is impressive and shows the quality of the lens for this type of shot; I don't see any comma in the corners of the image.
