Fuji A Fuji X journey today - received my X100s and an XF35 lens!

Ramirez

Regular
The trip to my "local" camera store to and from by car was actually around 430 miles (thought it was 370 miles earlier). It took some time because we took a few brakes. But I am now home and tired.

I traded a lot for the X100s and XF35.

The only thing I've done tonight is to open up the package with the X100S and feel it with my hands :)

It feels somehow different than the original X100 even though it is the same body mostly. Better somehow, hard to explain... Maybe a subjective feeling.

Well, I'm not going to test it until tomorrow... Need to get some sleep first, it is late evening here in Finland now.

I am glad that I now have a "simplified" full Fuji kit:

- X-E1 with XF18-55 and XF35 (Fuji X-E1 leather case)
- X100S with WCL (lens hood & adapter and the original Fuji X100 leather case)
- Lance Camera straps for both :)

This is my kit now and I am going to live with this kit for some time! I'm putting myself on a "non-shopping" camera gear mode for some time now! I am even going to skip the next update to X-Pro1 and X-E lines. The X100S is my main camera now that always will follow me everywhere and the X-E1 will serve as my camera when I need the other focal lengths.

Now I will fall asleep and dream sweet "Fuji-dreams".

By the way: they had only two X100S in the whole camera store chain, another person got the first one and I the second one.

I have had my X100S since last Friday. I could not be happier.

I am also an X Pro shooter. That 35 is just an amazing lens.

I do have a question. How do you like the Lance camera straps. I have been looking at them. Which ones do you have?

So you live in Finland ... I was wondering, Ramirez doesn't sound very Finnish. I am glad your trip was successful ... tiring but successful. By any measure, 430 miles is a long drive. For me, that would be similar to driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco, about 400 miles and six to seven hours. I am not only interested in seeing your, but also curious about the drive. How tough was the drive? Are your roads wet or icy, up and down or flat, many stops, twisty or straight roads? Just wondering about life in Finland.

I've got the Non-adjust Neck Strap. I've used one of these with my X-E1, going to put the second one on my X100s today when I'm taking the X100s in use :)

I love my camera straps. They are very comfortable and practical... Miles better than the original Fuj straps. I warmly recommend them. I got the 48 inch lenght on both.

The story behind why I use "Ramirez" (I use this nickname in all Internet forums I participate in, if taken I just add a number to the nickname, usually the last two numbers from my year of birth):

"Ramirez" is taken from one of the Highlander movies. "Ramirez" was Spaniard and mentor to the Highlander. I admire people with wisdom and I always had a love for Spain and Spanish culture... So there you have it, that's why I use that nickname.
As a side note to this, in two weeks I'm traveling to Barcelona in Spain. I'm going to "test" my new X100s there :) I'm just gonna take the X100s with me as I want to travel as light as possible. It is a work related trip, I'm going to attend a conference so I'm not going to have much time for private things. But my traveling mate is a pro photographer. We will have the last day there for our selves, the flight leaves during evening, so we have planned to so some street shooting in Barcelona that last day. That will be fun!

I'm going to put up some pictures from my trip yesterday, so you can see some photos from Finland. And then I'm going to also describe Finland some more.

Congratulations with your new gear! Quite a trip too. And a perfect place to test the x100s.
Finland is still on my list of must-have-seen countries. I am looking forward to your photos.

I am going to upload the images from the trip and the unboxing of the X100s and XF35 lens here. As these images aren't really photos that I've worked on, they are mostly snapshots taken in the moment sooc, I feel that they belong in this thread. Like a reportage thread. They will all be resized.

I'll start with some pics from the trip and add the unboxing pictures after.

Snapshots from the trip

Here comes the first batch. The gear I traded. And from me and a friend that joined me on this trip.

Now to the main attraction...

By the way... I always have one of my two cats with me while unboxing.

Well, this is it for now. I'll come back to this thread later for some initial thoughts about the X100s and XF35. Now I need to do some work.
