I'm finishing the month of February the same way I began it... beset by irrational cravings for cappuccino. And there is only one solution when that happens: hop into the vehicle and head for the neighboring town, where there is a rather fine coffee place...who roast their own coffee!

Confession: I have a long-standing fascination with (maybe obsession is a better word) coffee roasting machines. They look so cool (to me, at least)---

The cappuccino hit the spot, metaphorically speaking. Here it is, next to the developing Instax--

A special thank you to Andrew (gryphon1911) for creating this insanely cool 'Challenge', and to everyone for expanding my horizons, in more ways than I can say.

Did you ever visit the tiny coffee shop that used to be across from the Woolworth building in Medford? I heard it closed some years ago, which made me sad, we enjoyed going there and their coffee was quite excellent. I thought last time I passed it that it might have opened again under different ownership.

There was a very cool and very tiny little hole-in-the-wall coffee shop right there on Central Avenue for a number of years - but, alas, it closed about two years ago. But if you go up (west) on 6t St from Central, when you get to the corner of 6th & Front, you will find the best tiny little brewpub/lunch-place in southern Oregon - Portal Brewing - which features one of the best menus of Pub-style food (both vegetarian and meat-a-tarian) in southern Oregon. The other cool relatively new coffee spot in Medford is Forge coffee, where they make a seriously mean cappuccino.

The coffee roasting establishment in my photos here is in Ashland - Case Coffee - and it, along with Noble Coffee, are the two best coffee roasters/espresso specialists in Ashland. Fortunately, thanks to take-out, all of the aforementioned have been surviving through the pandemic.

I'll close out with this phone shot which I took a couple days ago, and meant to post, but didn't get around to creating any kind of lo-fi edit till now. I tried a grainy, rough film take in Snapseed, and it turned out pretty well, I think. The app has good B&W controls.

I enjoyed this challenge, and I enjoyed taking it a little easy too. Thanks, Andrew, for allowing a more casual attendance, than the usual stricter single in challenges. I need the strictness sometimes, but this was a nice way to explore a little, and take a much less serious approach to photography. There were times this month that the only camera I brought along was the GF3 with plastic optics, but I realized that it's okay to bring back a very lo-fi image, if it's done well. It makes my (sometimes unreasonable) pursuit of image quality and, for that matter, good cameras with good features and controls a little less important, less precious.

Thanks Andrew for the challenge. I used my old Sony f717, and rediscovered a lot of things I liked about it. Most of the shots were in night shot mode which can render a faux b&w infrared look. The other feature that stood out was the tilting body which provided a tilting EVF. I guess that is possible with some panasonic models. Does anyone have experience with them?
