I think it would be nice if images of places, panoramas, cathedrals, churches, castles, etc. were identified by the poster where appropriate, but I don't know how to suggest this other than as I'm doing now. Apologies if this is out of place.

You mean names and locations? If so that information's often provided, but it's really up to the poster, it's not something we can really impose on everyone. They'll be happy to provide this information if you ask of course.

I make it a point to identify stuff in my photos where it might not be obvious.

Wish more folks did that.

I've began recording the place and date in the border of all my photos these days. I travel quite a bit and often forget the names if I don't note it at the time.

As I'm not getting any younger, this fuzzy memory I have just now is only going to get worse.

There was no suggestion it should be imposed, he's just voicing that it would be nice if people considered including that info. I'm okay with that.

I've brought this up in the past and it's obviously a voluntary thing.
But I find great when the location is provided, as I live in such a small world.

Just a small remark: I'll often intentionally avoid drawing attention to the spaces and places I shoot in - I don't want people to know where I am or that I am not at home; I'm living alone, and I'd not want my unattended flat to draw any attention from unwanted guests ...

I can understand that. You don't want to advertise where you you live and when you are away from home. I wouldn't do that either, but if I am back from a trip I wouldn't feel the need to hide where I had been to. Safety first always. You never know who is collecting your data and how they would use it. It always surprises me when folk blatantly advertise realtime on Facebook that they are away on hols and that no one is home. Maybe they just top up their home insurance before they go and pray!

Of course I did not mean to suggest to make that a requirement! I understand that there could be many reasons why one would not (or cannot) provide the information. But I assume that often the poster may not think about this, and as I, for one, visit those places vicariously, I thought it would be nice to have that information.

I'm always happy to share that information, when asked. But fair enough to request to provide that information already in the first place 😄
