A trip down the original Sesame Street - pre-Elmo and pre-PC!!

Thanks for that, Luke... the diabetes is only the tip of a very large iceberg. But its something I *can* do something about, in a way that my specialists have conniptions over :)

I'm a diabetic as well, plus my kidneys are shot. Awaiting a kidney and a pancreas, I'm 41 although I feel like I'm at least 65 some days. I try to stay young, and once I get my two transplants I'm gonna pretend I'm a kid again and do things i couldn't due to limitations caused by riding the spike for 25 years and being strapped to a dialysis machine 8 hours a day. I hope you find the strength to do what you want and not just what the docs say you can do.

Oh!! I do hope you get your transplants soon, a friend of mine has only just gone on the list, he isn't diabetic but his kidneys are crap, he's 35 and now having dialysis. My kidneys are brinking on failure, not there yet, BP continuing to rise in spite of doubled mediation doses blah blah blah. My pancreas ought to be fine, except they keep prescribing meds that kill off beta cells. I want off those. Sometimes it seems like whatever they give you fixes one problem and creates another. Then theres the rest of it.

Best of luck, Sue and Grinch!

I think I must've seen some transitional phase of Sesame Street (late '80s early '90s), because we had both grover and elmo (and cookie monster). And rubber ducky! The puppets were all Dutch-spoken (dubbed) versions of the American originals, but we had our own real-life actors and our own version of bigbird, called Pino (he's blue instead of yellow). His best mates were Tommy, a dog wearing underwear on his head, and iniminie, a mouse. Tommy was (and is) awesome! Unfortunately the word play of Count Dracula didn't translate to Dutch, where he's called Graaf Dracula...

Wikipedia seems to agree with you! ah well, whatever his name is, he's funny! I always found him a bit weird as a child though  my favorites were Cookie Monster, Kermit and Tommie

I think I just always called him The Count. Is it just coincidence that Sesame Street's wackiness comes about as the children of the 60s start raising children. I look at old bits from this TV show and wonder what everyone was smoking....

Luke..... mate THANK YOU!!!

OK now I am convinced that these guys were on some serious substances...is it little wonder we are as we are.

Here's one that I think's about right for SC from two of my faves. Grover and Mr Johnson...the guy who sounds out his nouns...oh man!!

1 ah ah ah ah....... 2 ah ah ah ah........ 3 ah ah ah ah

The Count is the one that did it for me with Bert and Ernie not far behind. Although, I really did look forward to the random incursions of Mr Snuffleuffagus :hail:.

I seem to have a vague recollection of some dude named "fat toughy" though I'm not sure if he originated from the diseased minds of the Sesame Street producers or my own :crying:. Don't think his name would pass all the politically correct censorship these days unfortunately.

We didn't watch much telly when I was little. I seem to remember Andy Pandy in black and white. My girls always watched Sesame Street though. It was on for a whole hour at lunch time and I used to put it on for them to get some peace and quiet while they ate. They grew up saying zeee though! They still love it and collect u tube bits and pieces, including this one. cookie monster - YouTube
