Sony A65 SLT problem with GPS

I recently bought an SLT -A65 with GPS, and I've upgraded the firmware to 1.07. Everything about it seems to work as expected with the exception of GPS logging. I've downloaded the "assist" data from Sony and succesfully copied it to the SD card and turned on GPS, but I'm getting nothing. (The "no GPS" symbol shows in the viewfinder.)

Is there any trick to making this work? Is GPS support known to fail somewhat often on this camera?

Thanks for any ideas/comments...

BTW, I'm new -- this is my first post -- and I'm not sure whether I should be using the "showcase" tag.

Is your camera an SLT-A65, or an SLT-A65V? GPS is only available on the 'V' model. If it is a V, then as painful as it may be, if all else fails I'd do a factory reset and start from scratch. There've been so many times a certain feature is blocked on a used camera due to some weird setting by the previous owner. Having said that, I looked through the manual and there don't appear to be any instances where the GPS is disabled, it's either on or off. Still, it might be worth a shot.

Welcome aboard. BTW, I have a handful of A-Mount lenses and some other stuff for sale in the classifieds, if you're interested.

Thanks for the suggestion. (My camera is indeed the SLT-A65V.) I hadn't thought about doing a full factory reset, but that does seems like a reasonable thing to try. After spending a fair amount of time customizing the settings, I'm not anxious to do that now but will keep it in mind for some future time (during winter?) when I have some longer stretches of time available.
