There's something wrong with these pictures. Harsh light, yes, but something else also. I scratched my head, and I believe I figured it out, need to test. What say you?

Nothing wrong with the second one at all. I’d imagine if I had that lens, a fair amount of time would be taken up with figuring out that, for want of a better phrase, bokeh ring and how much of it I’d want applying the bokeh to the back or front of the image. I’d also imagine feeling a bit of pressure using the lens - I have seen some magnificent bokeh images from it and would feel the responsibility of having to replicate that, you know, to sort of justify the expense of getting the lens in the first place. I’m sure it takes time but once you’ve got there, the images in that respect would probably be unequalled.

Ok, I thought that sharpening is too much. They look unnatural, especially the flowers. On my screen in Lightroom they looked fine, but then on exported jpeg they don't look good. The reason for this seem to be that my standard export includes sharpening for screen, and when I tried to maximise the result sharpening went over. I prefer these versions, only standard sharpening and screen sharpening on export.

I have a feeling the forum software adds a fair amount of sharpening when uploading the images as well.
Or perhaps just when resizing.
I've noticed some excessive sharpening on some of my uploads as well while they looked fine as far as sharpening goes, on my system.
