AI in PS

I’m the opposite: I was in IT so long I got into umpteen beta programmes. However I was in IT security and seeing what was coming helped foresee potential problems.

Despite retiring a while back I still drift towards looking at new toys and am fascinated by AI. (The Wombo Dream phone app is amazing and Google’s Bard is coming along nicely.)

I was therefore interested in people’s thoughts and experiences of the fledgling AI function in PS.

I downloaded the beta version of ps and bridge, and tried it out. I thought it was interesting. I have only about 30 minutes of use in my first go, so am not good at it at all. It was kinda fun to see what a text command would do. Here is an example. I used "mountain" for text command. ( It is not perfect, and with a little fooling around, I could get it better.)

That’s impressive.

You did better than me though I was trying to insert strange objects into everyday scenes. Possibly due to copyright issues, PS’s AI doesn’t know what a TARDIS is.

Same here, Mark.

Updating my PC recently ended up with a computer that's about as fast as Telstra's biggest mainframe in 1986, with similar RAM and disk storage! Without the room full of tape drives, or the small power station required to power it, of course.

Just tried this on my new laptop. It only has a 2GB graphics chip (minimum is supposed to be 4GB??), and using the AI Denoise feature in Photoshop CC actually worked!

Produced the .DNG denoised file in very roughly 80 seconds, after telling me that it would take 19 minutes.
Someone is performing some kind of magic trick here!

I will redo the process, but using a stopwatch this time.

79 seconds.

That's not bad for a laptop with a very under powered graphics system.
My main workstation takes around 20 seconds to do the same process, also on an E-M1 MkII raw file.
