Damn the tyranny of distance! I'll definitely catch him whenever (read as " if ever") he comes down to the Great Southern Land. Enjoy you privileged northern types

I already bought my ticket and hopefully I can get my Ricoh GR1s signed.
Yeah thanks for your sympathy Michael!

Great idea though....hey can you get an X10 signed for me too please? Ok you might need to pick up the unit for me, but it should be available around the corner, from B+H, by then. I'll pay handsomely for both

I have 30 books of his and only half are signed. I love to bring him a box of goods to sign. Hopefully I get some good photos too.

No denying it, the man is a master - no matter what he has in hand. So you've certainly chosen well. ....Wait a second...

So you have met the man before then...to have the first 15 or so signed?
Hopefully I get some good photos too.
My assumption would be, and I could be wrong, that he's not as willing a subject as he is an able photographer

Again, any way you cut it, you're a lucky guy. Think of us less fortunate while you are there....won't you? And as a near second, please consider sharing photos of the night, as well as any pearls of wisdom he might impart....or even feel free to use that 'video' capability from your cam and post that here :2thumbs:

Of course I'll post pictures (hopefully).

I order his books directly from Japan and the majority were signed editions.

Not that it's not my cup o' tea, or "Joe", but frankly, I'm lazy about taking the train and schlepping in to the city. Now, if you lived right here next door we could go in together! I'm sure it will be interesting. Ya never know, if the spirit and flesh are willing...

Sorry BB, willing spirit and flesh to one side, in this case it's down to the tyranny of the thousands....thousands of miles and dollars to see me ready for even the first step in New York

Cameras were no problem, even with tripods. Some video taped the whole thing.
I met him on the street before the lecture started which was very cool. There were about 300 people there and about 290 of them were afraid to talk to him. He's very funny and extremely focused. The lecture went on for about 45 minutes with a small slide show and then they opened the floor up to questions. Afterward the reception at the upstairs coy pond was fantastic. He signed whatever people wanted signed. Some body brought a dozen books. It lasted about a good 2 1/2 hours. Earlier in the day I got a sneak peak at his show they were hanging at Aperture. He's releasing an according book when it's unfolded is 60 feet long !r
