This is the Downtown Les Halles restaurant, in NYC, where Bourdain sometimes worked as a chef. It became an impromptu memorial.
I met him a few times in this restaurant when it was still open, where he would just sit at the bar and eat steak frites by himself. I went up to him and introduced myself as a fan, and he was very pleasant and we had a 10 minute chat about Chinese food in NYC.
