HDR is a useful thing, but one doesn't really need it often with modern ISOless sensors like the ones found in the APS-C X-series, particularly in the rumored 24 MP models. So unless you are still using Canon cameras with their ridiculously ancient technology, it's more of a nice-to-have than a must-have option.
Even with the old 12-bit X-E1, lifting shadows from a single RAW is not a major problem.
