Haworth is a small village in West Yorskshire. It's main claim to fame is that Patrick Bronte was the local parson during the 19th century, and Charlotte, Emily and Anne Bronte lived in the parsonage until their early deaths.
Haworth Churchyard. Note that the tombstones are standing up - in other parts they are laid flat, but that caused increased contamination to the water supply in the 19th Century which accelerated the already high mortality rate.
You don't have to walk far out of the village before you are in open country.
The moors are fairly deserted, this (ruined) farmhouse sits high up on a hill about 3-4 miles outside of Haworth. This location (Top Withens) is reputed to have inspired Emily when she wrote "Wuthering Heights".
This is the tree beside the ruined farmhouse.
Walking along the Pennine Way from Top Withens.
As you walk along the moors you get a sense of how isolated and remote some of the farms are up here.
As well as isolated farmhouses, you also happen across abandoned (and maybe parked) vehicles in odd places.
My personal photo project this year is "Lone Trees in Black and White", luckily the Yorkshire Moors offers lots of opportunities.
This was one of my favourites from the week...
