Nikon Aspect ratio. D90

Hi
I've had a D90 for some time now and enjoy using it, albeit not to its full potential, but I'm lazy like that, but recently I thought I would experiment and change the aspect ratio, only to find there is no setting in the menu for this, unlike my Lumix G2, am I missing something here, or can't it be changed, which would surprise me on an accomplished camera like this, but maybe that's it.
Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers.

It’s an slr with an optical viewfinder so there’s no way to display a cropped image. I suppose it could be done if there’s a live view mode using the rear display. It’s just one of the things that’s easy on a mirrorless camera, but not on an slr.

Looks like you can only do it by editing the image in camera according to the D90 Manual

That works for JPEG files that are processed in camera. If you shoot raw files, it is not possible to change the aspect ratio. You are limited to the 3x2 aspect ratio of the sensor. I believe the best way to change the aspect ratio is to do it outside of the camera on a computer. A D90 does not have the capability to transfer files over WiFi or Bluetooth. The memory card must be removed to transfer files from the card. As such using software to process a photo is the only way to change the aspect ratio by cropping

OK. Thanks, that explains it, its just that when I typed into Google, D90 aspect ratio, it came up that it can be changed within the menu which caused the confusion.
I have a Lumix so I can use that if I want an in house square format so to speak.
Appreciate your replies and advice.
Cheers
Boz
